Ultimate Pleasure

Ps.63: 3 “Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you! 4 I will praise you as long as I live, lifting up my hands to you in prayer. 5 You satisfy me more than the richest feast. I will praise you with songs of joy. 6 I lie awake thinking of you, meditating on you…”

C. S. Lewis says, “He who has God and everything else has no more than he who has God only”. What he is saying is if Brother A has God, a house, five cars, a beautiful wife, twenty children, and everything he wants and Brother B has God, no house, and nobody wants to marry him, C. S. Lewis says, Brother A does not have more than Brother B. Wow! So what about the other things? The truth is as long as you have God, you have everything because God is all. In fact Brother B will discover that in the Presence of God there is fullness of joy and at God’s right hand are all the things he is even looking for – the pleasures forever more.

I discovered that prayer does not change God. Prayer changes things. I also discovered that prayer does not only change things, it changes me. As I consistently pray that my spouse for instance, be changed into Christ’s image, what I discovered is that I would be the first to change. God will change the person but He will start with you first.

But guess what? The ultimate pleasure of prayer now even goes beyond me changing. The ultimate pleasure of prayer is not the answers to prayers. It is not that it changes us but that we find God. The ultimate pleasure of prayer is that you are resonating and operating with God at a higher level. That after it is all said and done, you are in God’s embrace. So the more I seek God, the more I change and become all that He wants for me.

There is a place for individual prayers and there is a place for corporate prayers. The truth is that if you see anyone that is really fired up and can pray, if they are truthful, they will tell you that there was a time when they were part of a group of people that could pray. If you see anyone that can evangelize, if they are truthful, they will tell you that there was a time when they were with a group of people that could evangelize. We become by belonging. We develop character in community. In God’s Favourite House, we always like to make people take action. If you are married, engage your spouse and commit to the dawn breaking with your voices lifted in prayer. If you are single, let God lead you to a prayer partner.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I know that You are with me and so I release my heart to You. As I seek You daily, let me be changed daily into the image of Christ Jesus, in Jesus Name. Amen!
