Leadership

Deut.11:18 So commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these words of mine. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. 19 Teach them to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road…”

Our lesson today is from the life of Samuel, Hannah’s son. Hannah had a deal with God; He would give her a son and she will give the son back to God to serve God. And that was exactly what happened. God gave her Samuel and immediately she weaned him, she dedicated him to God and dropped him off at the temple. You can imagine how young the boy was but she actually left him in the temple with Eli. She would visit him from time to time to give him new clothes. When you dedicate your children to God, believe that they are dedicated and God will keep them, in Jesus Name.

Eli was the priest at that time but he was not managing the affairs and his children properly. The Bible outlines the criteria for leadership [1 Tim.3; please read]. 1 Tim.3:4He must manage his own family well, having children who respect and obey him. 5 For if a man cannot manage his own household, how can he take care of God’s church?” And Samuel, even though he was a boy, had a destiny-changing encounter with God. Do not underestimate God’s power in your children. Sometimes when your children speak or do certain things in line with God’s character, you may not necessarily understand it, but just trust God.

The Bible says Joseph told Israel about his dream and Israel kept those things in his heart. Similarly, when Mary and Joseph, after searching everywhere eventually found Jesus in the temple, the Bible records that Mary kept the encounter in her heart. When your children do things that could only have been initiated by the Spirit of God, just trust God and allow Him minister to you. That is not the time to pressure the child for an explanation. Be careful not to quench the Spirit that you have prayed upon them. I pray that God will give you understanding, in Jesus Name.

Samuel was a young boy and he heard the voice of God. I pray all our children will hear the voice of God and the voice of God will not be strange to them, in Jesus Name. Samuel did not understand the voice so he ran to Eli. God expects you to guide your children in His ways.

Prayer: Lord, according to Your promise, teach my children Yourself, lead them along the path of righteousness and let their peace be great, in Jesus Name. Amen!
