In Perspective
Isa.46:4 “I will be your God throughout your lifetime—until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.”
I know what it is to be rejected so I have a soft spot for people that are going through rejection. You should too because even if you have not experienced it, the Bible says we ought to carry each other’s burdens. Sadly sometimes we are not empathetic. We have experienced help from God but we do not extend that same help to others. To banish the fear of rejection, I need to put God in first place, put people in their place, and put myself in the proper place.
A lot of people do not realize their uniqueness and value and so do not treat themselves in that light. Some people have become vulnerable and doubt themselves consistently because they do not know they are unique and valuable. I remember years ago I had the opportunity to meet a man of God I really respected. He was walking down the same corridor I was in and in my heart I thought, “Finally, I get to shake his hand”. But as the man got closer and I approached to greet him, he looked at me and walked away. I literally almost fainted. Why would he do that, was it too much to ask for a handshake? The way I am with God, when somebody hurts me I report the person to God when I am praying, regardless of who it is.
So there I was reporting my hurt to God and who caused it, thinking God was going to console me and caution him. But what God told me was totally shocking. God said, “Are you this downcast because a man will not shake you? Have you ever talked to Me and I did not answer you?” Honestly, I had not thought about it like that. The God of all creation never ignores my call, why then should I be bothered if a man did not respond? I was healed immediately – no offence, no resentment at all. I just put myself in the proper place.
Since God would talk to me, does it matter if man would not? Many of us are struggling with rejection because men have refused to relate with us. But if God would relate with you then why bother? You are worth so much that He gave His only Son for you.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, please teach me to daily focus on God and God’s approval in everything that I do. May I never turn my eyes to man’s approval, in Jesus Name. Amen
