Weights Off II

Heb.12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up…” [with emphasis].

Today, we will continue from where we left off yesterday. The truth is that some things are not necessarily sin but they are not for you. And this is because of your own consecration with God and what He wants to do in your life. You may see other people doing it and God is with them. But for you, He says do not do it. Stop asking your pastor [a man] to authenticate what the Holy Spirit says you should not do. Do you want to kill him? When people come to me with such questions, I do not answer the question because I do not want them to put me in trouble with the Lord.

The truth is that usually when people start asking such questions, it means that there is a check in their spirit; something that is cautioning them. But they insist on a man telling them it is all right to go ahead with what God has told them not to do. And the reason is so that they can go before God and say this man told me to do it. Some things are not necessarily sin, but they are not for you. I hope you get this because it is huge spiritually and it is usually the differentiating factor when it comes to who is great and who is not.

God told Samson, “do not cut your hair; no razor should touch your head – that is your consecration”. Is it a sin to have a haircut or to go to the barbers? Imagine Samson going to his Pastor to ask if it is a sin to cut his hair. The man was not there when God told Samson not to cut his hair. I am just using this story as an analogy and I am sure you get the point. If God has told you not to tread a certain path, do not do it just because you see everybody going on that path. If you do, it will slow you down and you will be unable to climb.

So what is slowing you down? What has God told you to do and your stubbornness or disobedience has become a weight? Is it a habit that is slowing you down? All those things will put you in bondage. Give it up so that you can Step Up. For someone reading this today, the first step is to give up your life to Jesus. Today, God is challenging us to Step Up spiritually – God wants us to Look Up, to Listen Up, to Climb Up and to Give Up.

Prayer [song]: Lord, I offer my life to You. Everything I’ve been through, use it for Your glory. Lord I offer my days to You. Lifting my praise to You as a pleasing sacrifice. Lord I offer You my life. Amen!
