1Pet.1:23 “For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God” [with emphasis]

Yesterday, we talked about the two types of truth abusers, which are the naïve and the brutal truth abusers. You have to know which one you are tilted towards. I am tilted just a little bit to the brutal.

And what I do that has helped me over the years is, I check the motive. Will this truth help this person if they take it on board? If the answer is yes, I tell it to them as it is. If the answer is no, I leave them. Why? It is because there is a time to confront and there is a time to conceal. It is not everything you know that you should say.

A number of people have come to me requesting for the truth, claiming that they are ready for it and they can handle it. So, I am telling you beforehand that people will come to you, demanding for the truth and claiming they are equipped to handle it. My advice is, do not do it. They may be sincere but they may not be ready. You are still responsible in ensuring that they are ready for what you are about to say; otherwise keep quiet – because there is a time to confront and there is a time to conceal. You have to be able to discern the times.

Most times, we expect so much from people. Years ago, I was trying to get someone to see something. I was interceding consistently for the person’s eyes to be opened so they will see as they ought to. I would engage the person again and again, go back, and intercede. Guess what God said to me? “Why are you trying to teach this person in ten days what I taught you in ten years?” I just backed off. And a lot of us are guilty of this; God has taken us through a process where we had to learn something over the years. Then we attempt to choke it down people’s throat in a one-hour sermon. It does not work like that. You have to break it down and help people grow.

When we look at our nature, we are children of God; we are not children of the devil. So, we are children of light, children of the truth. We are not children of darkness,, or of lies, or of perishable seed. Our seed is imperishable through the living and enduring Word of God. So, the Word of God, The Truth is in our DNA.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I have the mind of Christ; I know when to speak and when to be silent, I will speak the truth in love and Your Name will be glorified, in Jesus Name. Amen!
