Simplify VI

Micah 6:8 (MSG) “But he’s already made it plain how to live, what to do, what God is looking for in men and women. It’s quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbour, be compassionate and loyal in your love, and don’t take yourself too seriously— take God seriously.”

Micah 6:8 (MSG) “But he’s already made it plain how to live, what to do, what God is looking for in men and women. It’s quite simple…” To follow God is simple. If you see someone following God and they are still very complex, they need to check which God they are following really. What makes following God simple? Three things highlighted in this scripture; “…Do what is fair and just to your neighbour, be compassionate and loyal in your love, and don’t take yourself too seriously— take God seriously” (emphasis added). If you do these three things, your life will be simple.

Assignment 1: Be fair and just to the people around you, your neighbours. How does this simplify your life? Think about it, discuss with friends, and write your answer in the space below.

Zech.8:17 (MSG) “…Keep your lives simple and honest…” It is difficult to be dishonest and live a simple life at the same time. Dishonest people mostly have convoluted lives because they are consistently thinking of new dishonest ways to cover their previous dishonesty.

Assignment 2: Be compassionate and loyal. How does this simplify your life? Think about it, discuss with friends, and write your answer in the space below.

Zec.7:4-6 (MSG) “God-of-the-Angel-Armies gave me this Message for them, for all the people and for the priests: “When you held days of fasting every fifth and seventh month all these seventy years, were you doing it for me? And when you held feasts, was that for me? Hardly. You’re interested in religion, I’m interested in people.” (emphasis added). The question is, how is your spiritual growth affecting your neighbour? How has it translated to loyalty to your friends, the people around you? How has this made you more compassionate? You fasted but you are as wicked and as vindictive as ever. We must make up our minds to be interested in what interests God – people.

Prayer (song): Change my heart oh God. Make it ever true. Change my heart oh God. May I be like You. Amen!
