Hosea 14:⁸ “O Israel, stay away from idols! I am the one who answers your prayers and cares for you. I am like a tree that is always green; all your fruit comes from me.”

Today we will be learning about the seven types of prayer. However, today’s devotional is all about being hands-on with the Word. We will list all the types of prayer and you will go and find examples from the Bible and write them in the spaces provided for you. There are seven types of prayer; this is not an exhaustive list, but this is how I teach prayer. The first is Adoration. Adoration is praising and worshipping God. Find examples of Adoration in the Bible and write the reference here: _______________________. The second is the prayer of Communion. Communion is mostly silent, and it is between you and God. Number three Supplication, supplication is never silent. Jesus teaching the disciples to pray said, “When you pray, say…” In supplication, you speak and make your request known. Find examples of Supplication in the Bible and write them down: ___________________________. Number four Intercession. Intercession is supplication on behalf of another. Supplication is when you make your request known; intercession is when you make someone else’s request known. You are praying on behalf of someone else. Number five is Collaboration [Agreement] popularly known in Christian circles as the prayer of agreement.  That is where two shall agree; find the scripture for it. Number one adoration, number two communion, number three supplication. Number four intercession. Number five is collaboration [Agreement]. Where is it in the Bible? Number six is Aggression [spiritual warfare]. There are two types of spiritual warfare; the first is dealing with yourself. Your combating is internal, that is, your mind is the battlefield. The war is going on in you and it is spiritual warfare. Repentance is happening, forgiveness is happening, you are pulling down strongholds and it is internal. Then there is external when you are dealing with satanic forces and demon spirits. If you are a child of God, this type of warfare should be external. The battlefield is not your mind, the battlefield is in the heavenly places. The battlefield is in the office, in the business, in the spaces, and all around. You put on the whole amour of God, you bind, and you lose. The seventh type of prayer is the prayer of Appreciation [thanksgiving]. Where is it in the Bible? Although it is not listed among the seven types of prayer, praying in tongues actually cuts across every type of prayer. It is deployed as a prayer language. You can pray in tongues in worship, in intercession, in warfare, and you can pray in tongues in thanksgiving. So, it cuts across.
