Will You?

Ps.50:10-12 “For all the animals of the forest are mine, and I own the cattle on a thousand hills. I know every bird on the mountains, and all the animals of the field are mine. If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for all the world is mine and everything in it.”

What are you sacrificing today that most people will not sacrifice so that you can live tomorrow as few people will? What are you sacrificing? If you cannot answer that question, it means that you are currently living a mediocre life, an average life, and tomorrow is going to be as average. I pray that your life will not be mediocre and will not be average in Jesus Name. However, the question is what does God require of you today to sacrifice that is not common so that tomorrow you can live a life that is not common? People see someone living a life that is not common, and they conclude that he or she is just lucky. No! For some people, God has told you to take ten steps – ten means ten. You take three steps and say, ‘I have tried, God sees my heart.’ Yes, He sees your heart, but your score is thirty percent (3/10).

But don’t you want to get a hundred percent (10/10)? Therefore, if God says take ten steps, how many steps should you take? For some of us, God has told you to start a certain business so that you can feed the poor. You are not hungry, but He needs you to start the business so that you can have more to give out. But you have refused to do it. For some, God is saying you need to start a life group, a house fellowship. God is saying, let My people come into your house and pray so that My presence would intensify in your life. But you refuse because they will inconvenience you, or because your rug is from Turkey, and they will stain it. And God is just looking at you. What is that next step?

For some of us, it is our tithing. Yet for others, it is another form of giving, perhaps just to help others. When I first started really hearing God intensely, a lot of the time God will always tell me to give this and give that. After a while, I said to myself, is it only give that God can say? Obviously, He did not hear me so… I remember a time when God told me to take a specific amount to a family in Surulere, Lagos. But I did not have the money. It was one of those times you were happy when God says you should give something because you do not have it. After all, you cannot give something you do not have. However, when God says you should give something, He already knows that you have it. Right there and then, my mind flashed to one suede shoe I had. It was my best pair of shoes. I just knew I had to sell the shoes. So I went to the market, it was very awkward but miraculously God brought a buyer.

So I went to the house, knocked on the gate. These people own their own house. When I got in, I said to the man, I am sorry this may sound very funny, but God says I should give you this. He looked at the money, called his wife and told her and she started crying. They had a new-born and needed to get some things for the baby. That was the money they needed to feed the baby.

Prayer: Father, I repent for past disobedience. Today, I make a fresh commitment to do whatever You ask me to do. Please give me the grace to follow through, in Jesus Name. Amen!
