Trustworthy
2 Chro.16:9 “The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. What a fool you have been! From now on you will be at war.”
Gen.22:2-3 “Take your son, your only son—yes, Isaac, whom you love so much—and go to the land of Moriah. Go and sacrifice him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will show you.” The next morning Abraham got up early. He saddled his donkey and took two of his servants with him, along with his son, Isaac. Then he chopped wood for a fire for a burnt offering and set out for the place God had told him about.” This is just so instructive in the heart of obedience and sacrifice. Here was Abraham about to sacrifice a promise that he had trusted and waited on God for, for decades and his heart was fully committed to God! Wow! When we think that God is about to kill us or take from us, God is actually about to multiply us. What you are going through is painful no doubt and you are wondering why your own is like this. Be encouraged because your destiny is different and glorious. So, stay on the altar.
Isaac stayed on the altar and scripture says when Abraham raised his hand to sacrifice the boy. Abraham was not dramatizing, expecting God to stop him. He was actually going to strike the boy because we see in Heb.11:17-19 “It was by faith that Abraham offered Isaac as a sacrifice when God was testing him. Abraham, who had received God’s promises, was ready to sacrifice his only son, Isaac, even though God had told him, “Isaac is the son through whom your descendants will be counted.” Abraham reasoned that if Isaac died, God was able to bring him back to life again. And in a sense, Abraham did receive his son back from the dead.” (emphasis added). Abraham knew that even if he killed Isaac, God has promised that “in Isaac shall your seed be” and His Word cannot fail. So even if I sacrifice him, God will resurrect him.
Abraham was in the Old Testament, but he knew about the resurrection power of the New Testament. Unbelievable! A friend of God indeed! God said to Abraham, ‘now I know you love Me, now I know you fear Me, and now I can trust you with more!’ (paraphrased). Erroneously, people think that God just trusts people with power and with things. No, it does not work like that. God loves everybody but He does not trust everybody. If God anoints some people, they will call down fire from heaven and kill their spouse or their children. The intriguing thing about it is that fire would actually come. Check scriptures, every single time a man of God makes a pronouncement out of anger, it happens. You can argue about it being right or wrong, but it is to their Master they stand or fall (Rom.14:4). God could trust Abraham and God could trust Isaac. But God stopped Abraham from sacrificing Isaac, He provided Himself a sacrifice. God is asking you to climb the mountain and sacrifice. Some people start and then go back. God says the solution is right there. Abraham paid the full price, in his heart Isaac was gone. The truth is God still meets obedient people on the top of the mountain.
Prayer: Father, I ask for the grace to climb the mountain and sacrifice, in Jesus Name. Amen!
