His Glory
Genesis 50:20 “You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.”
We have looked at three of the five things that we need to know, three of the five things that will illuminate our lives. Three of the five things that will solidify our lives and will make us unshakable, unmovable. Three of the five things that will make us rooted and planted even as God wants us to be. The first is to Secure Your Next Step, the second is to Realize And Embrace The Fact That ‘We Are Better Together’, and the third is Pray! Pray!! Pray!!! The fourth thing is Your Story Is For His Glory. When you realize that your story is for His glory, the pressure for you to perform is diffused completely. Why? It is because it is not about my glory, my story is for His glory. Isaiah 60:1 “Arise, Jerusalem! Let your light shine for all to see. For the glory of the Lord rises to shine on you.”
From this scripture, we can see that it is the glory of the Lord that is rising to shine upon you, and that is why you need to arise and shine. Your rising up and your shining is not so much about your story, but about His glory coming upon your story to make it glorious. Every time you come to God with the realization that it is not about you, you discover that you should not approach God with prayers like, ‘If this thing does not happen, God, it will really hurt’. You need to know that beyond you getting hurt, God is vested and invested in your life. So, those ‘God, do this for me’, ‘Jesus, let this happen to me, so that I can be happy‘, and ‘Jesus, fix me’ prayers are okay, but they are also pretty basic.
So, we look at our lives and we are saying to God, do this for me so that I can give You the glory, but we do not realize that there is a higher level. That is why we need to shift from ‘Jesus, fix my life’ to ‘Jesus, You are my life’. The truth is that when we can make that shift, we cross over from struggling to get God to do stuff to entering a place where God has to do stuff. We move from a place where we need to bang on doors, to a place where we just need to walk towards the door and the door will open. We move from a place where we need to struggle and struggle, to a place where we are carried on Eagle’s wings.
But you see, because it is for God’s glory, sometimes God will arrange it in such a way that He allows people to pester you — to insult you so to speak. And it is because He wants to grow your character and He wants to test your heart. Like Bishop T. D. Jakes said, “God is going to test your intensions by insults.” But if your story is for His glory, you will be able to sleep well at night. However, if your story is not really for His glory, then you would have to take control of the situation and lose sleep at night. If your story is for His glory, you can be pained but it is okay, God’s Name will be glorified.
Prayer: Father, I arise, and I shine because my story is for Your glory, in Jesus Name. Amen!
