Shake Up
Hebrews 12:27 “By this he means that he will sift out everything without solid foundations so that only unshakable things will be left.” (LB)
Today, we will pick up our discussion from the final thought from yesterday’s devotional. And that is the fact that some doors can actually be traps. For instance, traditions can be a trap. Sometimes, people insist on doing things the way it has always been done so that the outcome can be as it has always been. But the truth is that God may not necessarily be interested in what it has been. God says, Behold, I will do a new thing and now it shall spring forth (Isaiah 43:19). So, when God wants to do a new thing, tradition becomes a prison that He needs to open the door so that you can exit. Sometimes it is fatigue, you are always tired, always fatigued, and it can be a trap. Sometimes it is depression, you feel like you are in a dark room, in a dark place.
Interestingly, as necessary as pain is, sometimes if you do not navigate pain properly, it can be a trap. I prophesy into your life, that every door you enter will lead to your palace, in the Name of Jesus. And every door you exit from, you will exit from prison in the Mighty Name of Jesus. But how does God break us out of prison? There are several ways, but one of the ways is He often shakes things up to break us out of prison. God will cause there to be an earthquake for Him to break you out of prison. God will cause there to be a crisis for Him to break you out of prison. Acts 16:26 “suddenly there was a great earthquake; the prison was shaken to its foundations, all the doors flew open—and the chains of every prisoner fell off” (LB, emphasis added).
Sometimes, God has to shake the foundation to set you free. It is a very, very unsettling experience. You may think you are not in bondage, but God sees a limitation for your destiny. Sometimes, God will rattle that foundation just because He wants to set you free. He will shake up the way you have always done things. The foundation of this is how I do it, this is my system, and this is my process. God will shake it up perhaps because He wants you to be more dynamic, or perhaps more creative. God is a foundation-shaking God.
The question is, what have you always believed about life? Sometimes, the foundation of what you have always believed about life will be shaken. Sometimes, the foundation of what you always believed about parenting will be shaken. Sometimes, it is what we always believed about church. We saw the COVID19 pandemic shake a lot of the foundations of what we have always believed about church. Sometimes, it is what we believe about God Himself, the foundation of erroneous belief that God is in a box. God will shatter that box to show that He cannot be boxed.
Prayer: Father, break every prison, shackle, bondage, and sift out everything without a God solid foundation in my life, in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen!
