The Weight

Philippians 2:5-6 “In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage” (NIV)

We cannot even begin to imagine the weight of resurrection. We can experience it, but to fully come to terms with it is going to take a lifetime of knowing Jesus, and an eternity of being with Jesus. In fact, in Orthodox Greek the day after the resurrection, Easter Monday was declared the day of jokes. And they will tell jokes for the entire day because they said Jesus made a joke of hell and death. So, you may be going through the pain, slashing, slapping, and humiliation of Friday. Or perhaps the tension, confusion, and gossip of Saturday.

But guess what, Sunday is here, and resurrection is here for you in the Name of Jesus. For everyone that the enemy has declared that it is finished for you. That is not your story because Jesus did not say, I am finished. Jesus said it is finished. What the enemy heard was incorrect. It is not finished for you; it is finished on your behalf. So, Easter says that tragedy and death are jokes. Easter says that life triumphed over death. Jesus went to the extent He did to save humanity so that we can experience the life that He has to offer.

Philippians 2:4-11Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross. Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honour and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (emphasis added).

Jesus was and is God, but He did not hold on to those privileges. He let them go. And God is saying to you and I, ‘Let this mind be in you’. Do not always fight for, or forcefully use your rights. You are in a marriage, a relationship, a friendship, and you are holding on to your rights. God says, let it go! Do you want to experience resurrection power? Do not fight for yourself, let it go. Do you want to experience resurrection power? Put your hands up and say, ‘Jesus, You take the glory. This is Your fight; I am just a spectator.’ Some people hold on too tightly to the title manager, and they oppress everybody. Something is wrong with that. “In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus”

Prayer: Father, I ask for the grace to have the same mindset as Jesus, in Jesus Name. Amen!
