Acts 1:11 “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why are you standing here staring into heaven? Jesus has been taken from you into heaven, but someday he will return from heaven in the same way you saw him go!”

There is just so much in this passage of Scripture. This same Jesus. Think about it, Jesus was taken up into heaven, right? The question is, why didn’t He just disappear? He could have.

He had been doing that all the forty days He was around after resurrection. He would just walk through the door, through the wall, and appear in their gatherings. Then He would just disappear, gone just like that. But on this day, He did not just disappear, He was carried away in clear sight and they saw Him. Why? I think He was letting them know that He was going. Jesus had said, “It is good that I go as I promised so that the Holy Spirit, My Spirit will take control”.

Jesus’ resurrection and ascension was to open the floodgates of the Holy Spirit for us, and to us. So, that we, by the Holy Spirit, can walk daily with this same Jesus. This is just so strong, so powerful. This same Jesus, He left physically, and He will return physically. A time is coming when Jesus will return. When He returns, He is going to return physically and the whole world will see Him, physically. He left visibly; He is going to return visibly with the hosts of heaven with the blast of the trumpet. As a champion warrior.

The Bible says He left blessing His people, and He will return blessing His people. One of the things I look forward to (I still do) and it is big on my heart, is the rapture. When Jesus comes, if we are still alive, the feeling of being caught up in the air. Boom! I cannot wait. I like to fly. It will be beautiful. Everybody who does not know Jesus will be on the ground while we will go and meet our Saviour, Master, and Redeemer in the sky. It will be beautiful. When you look at your life, between the time you gave your life to Jesus and the time rapture happens. Or if you are called to go to be with the Lord before Jesus comes. Between now and then, what should you be doing? If we look at the time between Jesus’ resurrection and ascension, what was He doing?

We can take a cue from Jesus. Jesus did many things, but four things that can help us to get purpose and direction for our lives between our resurrection and our own ascension. Between when we became alive in Christ, and when we will be one with Him physically in heaven. What should we do with our lives? Beginning tomorrow, we will look at four of the things Jesus did, that can give us purpose. Are you ready?

Prayer: Father, by Holy Spirit, prepare me for the coming of Jesus, in Jesus Name. Amen!
