The Mirror

Then said I, Woe is me! For I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts. Isaiah 6:5

Until you stand before God’s mirror, it is almost impossible to be who He has called you to be. This statement many times sounds very distant to a number of people. The truth is that if you have a wrong perception of yourself, then chances are you will try to live out the wrong image you are seeing. You might be thinking that you already know what God has called you to do. This is very possible, no doubt. However, your perception of your capabilities or your performance may be totally different from who God needs you to be to carry out the task at hand. One of the best things God can do for you as a person is to reveal you to you. I like to think of this as taking you to the mirror in the spirit. Many times we go through life thinking we know who we are but we have no clue in reality. And if you don’t know who you are, you cannot really begin to become who God has called you to be.  Prophet Isaiah had been prophesying ‘woe’ to kings and nations but by the time God took him to the mirror, his years of prophesying were of little importance to him at that point as he confessed ‘woe is me for I am undone’.  In fact, I encourage you to ask God to take you to this experience because it is life changing. Through it I realized that God’s judgment is very different from men’s praises. When God shows you who you are, it humbles you and it helps you become who God wants you to be. Your attitude and commitment to God will change drastically. I pray that God will reveal you to you.

Prayer: Father, reveal me to me Lord, so that I can be delivered from the praises of men and be all that you have called me to be.

  1. This is definitely a process we all need to go through at a certain point in our walk with God. When that time comes and God shows us who we really are, may we have the boldness to look into the mirror, accept what we see and allow the Holy Spirit to help us make the necessary changes.
