Pray To God!

Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord from the heavens! Praise Him from the skies! Praise him, all his angels! Praise him, all the armies of heaven!Ps.148:1-2.

It is only when Jesus is being lifted up that angels are free to do what they are created to do. ‘We are standing on holy ground. And I know that there are angles all around. Let us praise Jesus now. We are standing in His presence on holy ground’. As the song points out, the object of our worship is not the angels around us but Jesus Himself. It is only the presence of God that can make a place holy. ‘If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. For He will order His angels to protect you where ever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stonePs.91:9-12. If you make the Lord your refuge and your habitation then He will give His angels charge over you. So the key thing is the presence of God. It is the presence of God that we have to cultivate not the presence of angels. When God is present we are strong, temptation is nothing, and we can reach our full potential. I was speaking to someone and the person was sharing with me how on Sundays at worship experiences she feels the presence of God and becomes strong. And at such times temptation is nothing to her. But by Wednesday she doesn’t feel the presence of God anymore. By Thursday she is really struggling and almost falling into sin. By Friday she has to call for counsel before she strays. But by Sunday she is empowered again. Such feedback saddens me because my responsibility is to train you on how to cultivate the presence of God through out the week. Some people have suggested midweek services so that by Wednesday when their strength begins to fail, staying in God’s presence can reenergize them. I appreciate the place of midweek services but the important thing, as a child of God, is you must know how to cultivate the presence of your Father within and outside worship experiences. And let Him carry you around because in Him we live, we move, and we have our being. It is all about the presence of God and not the place of worship or the activity of angels.

Prayer [song]: ‘We are standing on holy ground. And I know that there are angles all around. Let us praise Jesus now. We are standing in His presence on holy ground’.
