Surrender Control

“They are headed for destruction. Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and they think only about this life here on earth” Phil.3:19.

What appetite do you need to surrender to Jesus? You and I must deal with this question in order to make our lives count. I personally am very sensitive to anything that can compete with God or put me out of sync with Him. Permit me to start my next illustration with a disclaimer. There is nothing wrong with cable television or television in general. I am not preaching against or telling you not to watch cable television or television in general. I need to put that disclaimer up front so no one gets this wrong. I typically would have things lined up to do when I get home everyday like studying, praying, books to read and so on. But at the end of year 2013 when I get home, I decide to just relax. So I am in front of the television not really watching anything but flipping channels and next thing I know its 2.am! I typically go to bed about that time but I should have been reading my Bible, praying, reading a book. Doing things that will push me forward instead of changing channels. So I took a drastic step and did not renew my cable television subscription. It was painful and the providers were sending me text message reminders nonstop. In fact, I considered going for a limited subscription plan but God helped me stick to my decision to disconnect. And in just one month I gained so much focus it was amazing. Eliminating that distraction helped me gain four hours that I either spend praying, reading, studying, or sleeping. You do not come out from a bad habit with kid gloves, you need to take drastic steps. For me, when I feel that I have gotten my rhythm back and gained control then I can subscribe again. We cannot afford to habitually waste our lives having high blood pressure over a football match or television show that really does not move us forward. The players or actors have gotten their pay and moved on but you have your bills to settle meanwhile you are getting high blood pressure. Something is wrong with that equation. There are certain drastic steps you need to take to gain control of your life. I pray you will take the step because if you don’t control any addiction it has the potential to destroy you. But your life is going to count so you are going to gain control over any addiction, in the Jesus Name. Do not waste your life, instead give control back to God.

In Exodus 3:1-3 [please read], God shows us there is also divine distraction. I say this prayer for myself and I am praying that your life will be divinely distracted into the path of your destiny. May God send you “the bush” that will compel you to turn aside.

Thought: At best Moses would have lived and died as a shepherd in the wilderness but God had other plans. God needed to send that distraction his way.

Prayer: Father, May I be divinely distracted into my glorious destiny, in Jesus Name!
