Levels of Commitment

Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do His work and build up the Church, the body of Christ. Eph.4:12

Walking with God cannot happen without commitment. Have you ever asked yourself about your role in the body of Christ? ‘…build up the Church, the body of Christ’. This means that even within the Church, there are levels which you can only attain if you submit yourself to being built up. We grow in commitments, we cannot grow outside of commitments – it is not possible. Nothing begins to happen outside solid commitments. There are five levels of commitment within the body of Christ. Hopefully, discussing this will birth in you the desire to take your commitment to the next level. Everyone in Church is on one level or the other depending on your commitment and your walk with God.

  • The Community: this level of commitment is occupied by those who are in the natural environs but sometimes never come to Church. They do not consider themselves a part of the Church. Our job is to reach them and bring them to Christ.
  • The Crowd: this level of commitment is occupied by people who go to Church once in a while.
  • The Congregation: this level of commitment is occupied by people who can really say that they belong, are fed and are planted in a local Church.
  •  The Committed: this level of commitment is occupied by those who have deliberately decided to grow in their walk with God and begin to transition into the serving
  • The Core: this level of commitment is occupied by those serving and being a part of decision making at different levels.

What level are you in your commitment to your local assembly? Commitment will take you from where you are to where God wants you to be.

Thought: Remember the parable of the talents. You are God’s investment, make up your mind to yield returns for the Kingdom.

Prayer: Father Lord, please help me identify my level of commitment currently and ways to improve my commitment.

  1. Commitment is a deliberate action, your level of commitment is driven by your level of passion and your level of passion is influenced by your motive of being committed in the first place. The question we all should be asking ourselves is what is my motive, am i committed because of the benefits or because of love for what we are called to do. when challenges comes wish is sure, its your love for what you do that will keep you focus not the benefits. love God and be committed to Him not for what he can do but for WHO HE IS. true commitment brings everlasting Joy and peace.
