Behind And Beside
“So Jesus explained, “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does” Jn.5:19.
The second aspect of divine companionship is walking behind God. “And He said to them, Come after Me [as disciples letting Me be your Guide] follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men!” Matt.4:19 [AMP]. If Jesus says follow me, what that means is you are walking behind Him. He is going in front and you are following Him. When He moves – you move, when He stops – you stop. Read the rest of this entry
All-In-All
“You shall walk after the Lord your God and fear Him, and keep His commandments and obey His voice; you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him” Deu.13:4
The reverential fear of God will make you enjoy the promises of God but it does not make you live a holy life. While the terrible fear of God will make you live a holy life. For those of us who are parents, we can relate to this based on experience. You say to your child, do not touch that cup. The child is going towards the cup and he is looking at you; he is assessing how serious you are. So he touches the Read the rest of this entry
Before God
“Because we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that can defile our body or spirit. And let us work toward complete holiness because we fear God” 2 Cor.7:1.
There are three aspects of divine companionship. The first aspect is walking before God. “When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am God Almighty; walk before me faithfully and be blameless. Then I will make my covenant between me and you and will greatly increase your numbers.” Abram fell facedown, and God said to him, “As for me, this is my covenant with you: You will be the father of many nations. No longer will you be called Abram; your name will be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations” Gen.17:1-5 [emphasis added]. Read the rest of this entry
Causes Of Disagreement II
“Can two people walk together without agreeing on the direction?” Amos 3:3
My wife and I do not agree on many things and I do not have a problem with that. One thing we don’t agree on for instance is the number of times we should bathe in a day. She feels we should bathe three times a day. I say why? Is once not enough? Twice maybe but not three times! It is a minor issue; it does not matter. Read the rest of this entry
Causes Of Disagreement I
“Do two people start travelling together without arranging to meet?” Amos 3:3 [GNT].
Today, we pick up from where we left off yesterday. The first cause of disagreement is failure to meet. In some marriages, there are two people living in the same house but they are just flat mates; they do not meet. They have agreed or decided to marry but they must also agree to meet. It is one thing to decide to get Read the rest of this entry
Companionship
“Can two walk together, unless they are agreed? Amos 3:3” (NKJV)
As your Pastor, I can pray that God will give you a miracle and when that happens, it is a good gift. But that is not the best gift I can give to you. The best gift I can give to you is to ensure that your connection with God is intact; that you have a clear-cut intact connection with God. The best thing that can happen to you is for Read the rest of this entry
Believers’ Authority
“For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus” Eph.2:6
You need to build your own altar with God, yourself. Why? Because a lot of the people you are relying on to build it for you, have malicious intentions. My wife and I were visiting a family outside Nigeria, who live in an all white community. There can’t be any demons there right? We parked a distance from the house so Read the rest of this entry
Religion vs. Relationship
“These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me” Matt.15:8.
No matter how legitimate the altar is it cannot take the place of God. Another legitimate altar we tend run to and grab on to but fails us is ‘men of God’. Thank God for ‘men of God’, I do not have anything against them, but a man of God cannot substitute God. It is totally impossible no matter how anointed he is – he Read the rest of this entry
First Things First!
“Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the Lord…” Ps. 24:3-5 [NKJV].
There are things that we do in our lives privately that rob us of God’s glory publicly. It is not when we stand in public that the problem comes. No, the problem came when we robbed God privately. The problem started when we did not regard the Most High at that place of the altar. It is noteworthy that Joab ran Read the rest of this entry
Caution!
“Then Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer and put fire in it, put incense on it, and offered profane fire before the Lord, which He had not commanded them. So fire went out from the Lord and devoured them …” Lev.10:1-2 [NKJV].
What killed Uzzah? You can read Uzzah’s story in 2 Samuel 6. The Ark of God was coming to Jerusalem, and the Ark began to shake. So Uzzah touched it and God killed him. What actually killed Uzzah? If you study this portion of scripture properly, you will discover that although the Ark should not have been carried in a Read the rest of this entry
