The Straight And Narrow II

‘For I envied the proud when I saw them prosper despite their wickedness. Did I keep my heart pure for nothing? Did I keep my self innocent for no reason? In an instant they are destroyed, completely swept away by terrors’ Ps.73:3, 13, & 19

A lot of people today are envious of the people who disregard God’s way because they seem to be doing all the wrong things and getting all the right results. How come the unbelievers have it good and the righteous seem to be walking up a very steep hill? Please read Psalm 73, this was the same question on the mind of the psalmist. A lot of students today have begun to wonder if there is really anything wrong with cheating in an exam. After all, those who cheat seem to be getting great scores and moving unto the next level Read the rest of this entry

The Straight And Narrow I

‘For listen! Hear the cries of the field workers whom you have cheated of their pay. The wages you held back cry out against you. The cries of those who harvest your fields have reached the ears of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies’ James 5:4.

What we have to deal with today applies to all of us really. Is it right to use pirated software, download and watch pirated movies straight off the internet, or buy pirated music discs. Take some time out to think about this as it relates to you and the software you either work with or use leisurely, movies and music that you own.

Moving Forward

‘Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results’ James 5:16.

Disobedience is at the root of every sin. The only way to undo the consequences of disobedience is to obey God and trust Him to make you guiltless. There are some sins that need to be confessed one to another before healing [moving forward] can occur. When you are married, you are responsible to God and to your spouse. When you sin sexually, you confess to God, repent, and seek forgiveness from God. But you have to confess to your spouse for healing. If you choose not to confess to your spouse then you will have to live with the Read the rest of this entry

Your Seed

‘Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him. Children born to a young man are like arrows in a warrior’s hand’ Ps.127:3-4

A number of us are emotionally attached to people we are in relationships with. And when such people experience a loss we are moved with compassion for them. As such we want to lend a hand now and again to help make up for the emptiness they feel. However there are lengths that we must think carefully about before engaging. For example, a divorced or single woman who weighs her options and settles on having a child to fill the emptiness she is feeling, approaches a young man she is close to for a sperm donation. Not Against God

‘For what gives you the right to make such a judgment? What do you have that God hasn’t given you? And if everything you have is from God, why boast as though it were not a gift?’ 1 Cor.4:7

A number of us are familiar with the term IVF. Yet for those who have never heard of it, IVF simply means In vitro fertilization (IVF); a process where an egg is fertilized by a sperm outside the body. A lot of couples undergo intense pressure from not having children. Some are willing to wait on God and I applaud their faith. While some are willing to take the route of medical science, and guess what, I also applaud their faith. Medical science is not against God, in fact God gave medical science as a gift to man. So Christians Read the rest of this entry

He Understands!

‘Since he himself has gone through suffering and testing, he is able to help us when we’re being tested’ Heb.2:18.

General statistics state that at least one out of every three women has been raped. In truth, the idea of rape is very sad. It is a horrible experience that no woman wants to go through. As if the experience of being raped is not bad enough some ladies get pregnant as a result. If you are a man reading this today and you have raped someone, you need to cry out to God for mercy because that is a heavy thing to do to the image of God. For ladies, once rape has happened the first thing you should do is go to a gynecologist and get proper Read the rest of this entry

Beauty For Ashes

He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the Lord’s favor has come, and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies’ Isa.61:2.

The pain of abuse, whether mental, emotional, or sexual, is a terrible thing. Some people who go through this experience think they will never recover from the pain, shame, and reproach borne out of such experiences. So they try to make up for the painful experience by searching for love in all of the wrong places. Most times they get into a series of bad relationships but what they are looking for is actually a way to be loved enough to forget the pain of the past. A lot of them want to know what kind of life someone who has had Read the rest of this entry

Salvation vs. Deliverance

‘Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life’ John 8:12

A number of Christians both old and new are puzzled by the salvation versus deliverance subject. Some say, since knowledge is a form of deliverance then why do people need to go for deliverance? Others wonder if there is a difference between salvation and deliverance because the Word of God states that whom the Son of man sets free is free indeed. Some Christians will tell you that salvation is the ultimate covering for all things so there is actually no need for deliverance from past deeds. Read the rest of this entry

Love Is Patient

‘Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud. Love never gives up, never looses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance’ 1 Cor.13:4 &7

We go into marriage with a lot of expectations and when these expectations are dashed many lash out at their spouses. Again I would advise that the best way to manage your spouse’s expectations is to be transparent. For instance, your wife comes to you with genuine needs for the home and to her it appears that your first response to every need is that you do not have the money for it. The longer she feels this way, the more likely she is to lash out at you. Even when you eventually meet the necessary needs, you will find that she Read the rest of this entry

Family Finances

‘Wisdom is even better when you have money. Both are a benefit as you go trough life. Wisdom and money can get you almost anything but only wisdom can save your life’ Ecc.7:11-12

Marriage is God’s gift of two to us because the Bible states clearly that two are better than one. Money is good but wisdom can save your life. Wives listen to your husbands and husbands listen to your wives. What they say could very well save your life. We must also remember that marriage is God’s gift to us here on earth. Scripture says there is no marriage in heaven, so make the best of this gift while you are here and glorify God by leveraging the strength of two that He has given you. You do not have to see eye to eye in Read the rest of this entry
