Not Weakness

‘How blessed are the meek! for they will inherit their land’ Matt.5:5 [CJB]

Wikipedia.com defines meekness as power under control. Real meekness is power under control and not weakness. If you look at the root word for meekness in the Greek Prautes it means the middle point between two extremes – getting angry unreasonably [the Greek word orgulotes] and not getting angry at all [the Greek word aorgesia]. In other words, meekness is getting angry at the right time, in the right measure, and for the right Read the rest of this entry

Poor In Spirit

‘Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven’ Matt.5:3 [NIV].

Jesus wants you and I to know today that the resources of heaven are at the disposal of the poor in spirit. So what does it mean to be poor in spirit? Does it mean I am poor in spirit when my bank account is reflecting a double negative? Of course not! To be poor in spirit simply means to realize one’s desperate need for God. For you and I to be poor in spirit means realizing our desperate need for God. Therefore if you are in fellowship simply because you want recognition for the material things you possess it means you have not Read the rest of this entry

You Are Blessed!

‘The blessing of the LORD makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow with it’ Prov.10:22.

If you were to describe with one word a person that has the command of the resources of Heaven? What would that word be? How will you describe someone that whenever he is going through challenges, because everybody will go through challenges, he always has comfort and help? How will you describe a person who on this earth is prosperous financially, physically, and in marriage? How will you describe a person that among his/her peers is perceived to have things work out for him/her differently? How would you describe Read the rest of this entry

Look Inward II

In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself’ Eph.5:28

People like to go where they are appreciated; husbands, wives, and singles please take note. Repeatedly husbands complain that their wives are disrespectful to them. There are many situations that usually would warrant this. Familiarity is one of the things that can warrant disrespect so wives please be careful because as human beings we treat with contempt what we are familiar with. Wives the onus is on you to refuse to see your husband as ordinary because he is not ordinary and vice versa. There is more to him than meets the Read the rest of this entry

Look Inward I

The husband should give his wife what she deserves as his wife. And the wife should give her husband what he deserves as her husband’ 1 Cor.7:3 [ERV].

One of the things marriage is about is companionship and this is what God intended from the beginning. ‘Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him’ Gen.2:18. It is for this purpose also that …a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one’ Gen.2:24. In other words, the man lets go of his former life and begins a new one with his wife as his primary focus. Denying your spouse companionship is bound to hurt Read the rest of this entry

The Straight And Narrow II

‘For I envied the proud when I saw them prosper despite their wickedness. Did I keep my heart pure for nothing? Did I keep my self innocent for no reason? In an instant they are destroyed, completely swept away by terrors’ Ps.73:3, 13, & 19

A lot of people today are envious of the people who disregard God’s way because they seem to be doing all the wrong things and getting all the right results. How come the unbelievers have it good and the righteous seem to be walking up a very steep hill? Please read Psalm 73, this was the same question on the mind of the psalmist. A lot of students today have begun to wonder if there is really anything wrong with cheating in an exam. After all, those who cheat seem to be getting great scores and moving unto the next level Read the rest of this entry

The Straight And Narrow I

‘For listen! Hear the cries of the field workers whom you have cheated of their pay. The wages you held back cry out against you. The cries of those who harvest your fields have reached the ears of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies’ James 5:4.

What we have to deal with today applies to all of us really. Is it right to use pirated software, download and watch pirated movies straight off the internet, or buy pirated music discs. Take some time out to think about this as it relates to you and the software you either work with or use leisurely, movies and music that you own.

Moving Forward

‘Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results’ James 5:16.

Disobedience is at the root of every sin. The only way to undo the consequences of disobedience is to obey God and trust Him to make you guiltless. There are some sins that need to be confessed one to another before healing [moving forward] can occur. When you are married, you are responsible to God and to your spouse. When you sin sexually, you confess to God, repent, and seek forgiveness from God. But you have to confess to your spouse for healing. If you choose not to confess to your spouse then you will have to live with the Read the rest of this entry

Your Seed

‘Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him. Children born to a young man are like arrows in a warrior’s hand’ Ps.127:3-4

A number of us are emotionally attached to people we are in relationships with. And when such people experience a loss we are moved with compassion for them. As such we want to lend a hand now and again to help make up for the emptiness they feel. However there are lengths that we must think carefully about before engaging. For example, a divorced or single woman who weighs her options and settles on having a child to fill the emptiness she is feeling, approaches a young man she is close to for a sperm donation. Not Against God

‘For what gives you the right to make such a judgment? What do you have that God hasn’t given you? And if everything you have is from God, why boast as though it were not a gift?’ 1 Cor.4:7

A number of us are familiar with the term IVF. Yet for those who have never heard of it, IVF simply means In vitro fertilization (IVF); a process where an egg is fertilized by a sperm outside the body. A lot of couples undergo intense pressure from not having children. Some are willing to wait on God and I applaud their faith. While some are willing to take the route of medical science, and guess what, I also applaud their faith. Medical science is not against God, in fact God gave medical science as a gift to man. So Christians Read the rest of this entry
