Your Shield
Ps. 35:1 “Contend, Lord, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me” [NIV]
Years ago, someone told me he thought I was too fierce because in his opinion, if you leave the devil alone he will leave you alone. Then life happened, and he called me and said, Read the rest of this entry
Is That All?
“Give thanks to the Lord, for he good! His faithful love endures for ever” Ps.136:1
It is only the living that can complain but guess what it is also only the living that can give thanks to God. Which would it be for you? Regardless of what you are going through, the fact that you are alive shows that God is not done with you yet and this is reason enough to give thanks. Many times we do not give the thanksgiving that is commensurate to our breakthrough, or even commensurate to our request for the breakthrough. We pray and wait on God for something Read the rest of this entry
Lifestyle Of Worship III
“So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him” Rom.12:1 [MSG].
How does worship become a lifestyle? Intersect your daily routines with your passion for God. And that is best described with the portion of Scripture quoted above. Intersect your daily routines with your passion for God. Mix your life with God. Let your life be mixed with worship. Imagine a blender, put your life into it, add worship, add praise, add Bible Reading, push the button and just blend it all Read the rest of this entry
How To… II
“So kill your earthly impulses: loose sex, impure actions, unbridled sensuality, wicked thoughts, and greed (which is essentially idolatry)” Col.3:5 [VOICE]
Paul urges us to put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within. So how do you put to death [kill]? Two practical scriptural ways of killing;
#1. You hand it over to the Holy Ghost. You put your life on the altar and you surrender that Read the rest of this entry
It Has To Be Daily
“Think about (set your affection on) the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God” Col.3:2-3 [emphasis added]
In Colossians 1, Paul focuses on the Supremacy of Christ and establishing that Jesus existed before the world was created. In Colossians 2, Paul focuses on victory over external dangers, external influences, philosophies, and the teachings of men. But in Colossians 3 Paul focuses on victory over and all that but in chapter 3 Paul is focusing on victory over internal danger Read the rest of this entry
Impregnable!
“And the fire on the altar shall be kept burning on it; it shall not be put out. And the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and lay the burnt offering in order on it…” Lev.6:12 [emphasis added].
Functioning in your priesthood makes your life impregnable to the enemy. Every time they try, they will fail, in Jesus Name. Some time ago, I was not a Pastor yet but I was a believer at the time and in relationship with God. I was running rampant for Jesus. My business was anywhere I see trouble, that’s where I want to be in. Anywhere somebody had a demon-possessed issue, my response was, Read the rest of this entry
In The Lord!
“A fire shall always be burning on the altar; it shall never go out” Lev.6:13.
The Bible says people perish for lack of knowledge; but you will not perish because you will learn and grow in the Word. The challenge with us human beings, everybody including me, is that we need encouragement time and again. We build an altar to God and we are excited about it but then after a while, we get tired and just do not want to go on. Which is the difference between a child and a man; a Read the rest of this entry
Better Or Worse?
“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” 1Pet.2:9 [emphasis added].
Sometimes when God challenges us, it just does not make any logical sense. We have had to make certain sacrifices that were down right difficult. Think about the sacrifices you made, has your life been better or worse for it? Think about it. This is because nobody trades with God, as my grandmother says, and comes up short – not one person! So God is saying to you and I, give Me your Isaac. Will you Read the rest of this entry
All In!
“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him” Ps.24:1.
In building altars and sacrifices, there should be nothing in your life that you cannot give to God. You shouldn’t have a sacred cow that you cannot sacrifice. You would be setting yourself up for a fall if you did because satan would know that that is your weakness and he will come after it. But if there is nothing in your life that you cannot offer up to God even when they are still in your control, then you Read the rest of this entry
Corner Stones
Then build an altar to the Lord your God here on this hilltop sanctuary, laying the stones carefully. Sacrifice the bull as a burnt offering on the altar, using as fuel the wood of the Asherah pole you cut down.” Judg.6:26 [emphasis added]
“…laying the stones carefully. Sacrifice the bull as a burnt offering on the altar, using as fuel the wood…”. In raising an altar there are three things we must pay attention to.
The Stone: In obedience, by faith, Jerub-baal [that is Gideon] gathered the stones for the altar as instructed by God. So what do the stones represent when it comes to building an altar? Does this mean you and I need to need to start gathering stones? How does this apply to present day altar building? “You also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” 1Pet.2:5 [emphasis added]. The stones represent you and I, so the stone you need to build an altar for God is yourself. God says, you, come yourself. And when you and I come together, we become lively stones and this becomes an altar to the Most High God.
The Wood: The wood represents the fuel and the fuel is the Holy Spirit. The wood can come from anywhere but the fuel is the Holy Spirit.
The Sacrifice: The sacrifice represents your body, your time, and your substance. Mathematically speaking, Sacrifice = Body + Time + Substance. In fact, your sacrifice is your life and that is what must be consistently present for the fire to burn and to keep burning. “And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him” Rom.12:1 [emphasis added]. We are to give God our bodies as a living and a holy sacrifice, the kind He will find acceptable, because of all He has done for us. This is truly the way to worship Him. Some people erroneously say that when you get born again, it is your spirit that gets born again. So you can do anything with your body but just worship God in your spirit. And they will support it with this scripture, God is a spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. While it is true that God is a spirit, it is not true that God does not care about your body. God wants your body as is clearly stated in scripture. And that is in the New Testament for those who want to differentiate New Testament from Old Testament. Give your body. If you have given God your body, it is difficult to allow the same body to be defiled. If your body belongs to God, no rascal should be able to touch it because your body belongs to God.
Prayer: Jesus, my body belongs to You and I present it to You today afresh as a living and holy sacrifice; may it always be pleasing to You, in Jesus Name.
