When Light Flows, I
Isa.59:21 “This is My covenant promise to them: My Spirit, which rests on and moves in you, and My words, which I have placed within you, will continue to be spoken among you and move you to action. And not only you, but so it will be for your children and their children too… (Voice)
God’s Word to us now is let your light shine, your own light shine. I know that by now you are asking, how? Like we said previously, when Jesus wants to answer the ‘how’ question, many times He gives us the ‘when’ answer. When this happens then you will understand this. Read the rest of this entry
Unique Light
1 Cor.15:41 “Even among the heavenly bodies, there is a different level of brilliance: the sun shines differently than the moon, the moon differently than the stars, and the stars themselves differ in their brightness.” (Voice).
Do you know that the glory of the moon is a reflection of the glory of the sun? However, the sun cannot do what the moon does. So, to say that the moon is useless is to misunderstand the purpose of creation, of glory, of brightness, and of light. Honestly, parents need to get this. Read the rest of this entry
Your Shine
Matt. 5:16 “So don’t hide your light! Let it shine brightly before others, so that your commendable works will shine as light upon them, and then they will give their praise to your Father in heaven.” (TPT, emphasis)
God’s Word is clear; do not hide your light, that will be humbility. We are to let it shine, how? Brightly for others so that our commendable works will shine as light and then they will give praise to God. Read the rest of this entry
His Song
Ps. 42:8 “Yet in the light of day, the Eternal shows me His love. When night settles in and all is dark, He keeps me company—His soothing song, a prayerful melody to the True God of my life.” (Voice)
So, what kind of song could Paul and Silas have been singing? Perhaps it was, “All hail the pow’r of Jesus’ Name! Let angels, prostrate fall; bring forth the royal diadem, and crown Him Lord of all! Ye chosen seed of Israel’s race, Ye ransomed from the fall, Hail Him Who saves you by His grace, And crown Him Lord of all!” They were in chains and in the dungeon, but they were singing taping their feet and making music with the chains. The Benefits
1 Cor.6:19 “Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself.”
We will kick-off today’s devotional with our final thought from yesterday which is, you do not belong to yourself, and you need to understand that your body does not belong to you. Caring for your body, God’s temple, is a discipleship issue. Read the rest of this entry
The Focus
1 Cor.6:19 “Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself.”
Yesterday, we talked about the fact that some people are not pleased with their own body. They do not like what they see in the mirror. It is so bad that it even puts pressure on intimacy between married couples. Read the rest of this entry
Instrument vs. Ornament
Rom.12:2 “Don’t copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”
Our final thought from yesterday’s devotional was that we cannot allow the media’s projection of what beauty is define our mentality. We need to look to the spiritual truths of Christ to overcome the media battering of what ‘beautiful’ looks like. Read the rest of this entry
Be Renewed
1 Cor.9:26-27 “I don’t know about you, but I’m running hard for the finish line. I’m giving it everything I’ve got. No sloppy living for me! I’m staying alert and in top condition. I’m not going to get caught napping . . .” (MSG)
When it comes to Church, we do a lot of spiritual work and it is great because everything stems from the spiritual. We do a little bit more on the mental side, but we do not do much on the body side. Read the rest of this entry
Best vs. Easy; Habits II
Luke 17:10 “And that’s how it should be with you. When you’ve done all you should, then say, “We are merely servants, and we have simply done our duty.” (CEV, emphasis added)
Today’s scripture is so instructive. I urge you to spend time meditating on Luke 17:7-10. It will rid you of every trace of entitlement in your heart, leaving you totally grateful. Read the rest of this entry
Best vs. Easy; Habits I
Luke 17:10 “So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’” (NIV)
Today, we dive straight into the habits of choosing what is best over what is easy. The first is, change ‘I deserve’ to ‘I am responsible’. ‘I deserve’ is a dangerous phrase. A son walks up to his Dad and says, ‘Dad, I deserve a new video game.’ No, you do not! Read the rest of this entry
