God’s Property
1 Corinthians 6:12 “All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient…” (KJV)
In today’s anchor scripture, Paul is saying that all things are lawful to me but not all things are expedient. In other words, some things in life are not necessarily wrong but they are not necessary. So, for you to have metamorphosis, have transformation in your life, Read the rest of this entry
In Faith
Hebrews 11:1-2 “Faith is the assurance of things you have hoped for, the absolute conviction that there are realities you’ve never seen. It was by faith that our forebears were approved.” (Voice)
Hebrews 11:1 “What is faith? It is the confident assurance that something we want is going to happen. It is the certainty that what we hope for is waiting for us, even though we cannot see it up ahead.” (LB). Now that we know what faith is and how to grow in faith. Read the rest of this entry
Grow In Faith
Psalm 145:13 “For your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. You rule throughout all generations. The Lord always keeps his promises; he is gracious in all he does”
Hebrews 4:14 “That is why we have a great High Priest who has gone to heaven, Jesus the Son of God. Let us cling to him and never stop trusting him.” (paraphrased). I do not know what you are going through. But I am here to say to you, cling to Jesus. Read the rest of this entry
Faith Is… II
Hebrews 11:11 “Sarah, too, had faith… for she realized that God, who gave her his promise, would certainly do what he said.” (LB).
We know something will happen only when God says it will happen. Hebrews 11:11 “…Abraham trusted that God would keep his promise.” (GWT). Why did Abraham leave his home country and travel to a strange land? It is because God promised. Read the rest of this entry
To Freedom
Galatians 5:13 “It is absolutely clear that God has called you to a free life. Just make sure that you don’t use this freedom as an excuse to do whatever you want to do and destroy your freedom. Rather, use your freedom to serve one another in love; that’s how freedom grows.” (MSG)
Most times, we have an idea of who we think God is and how we expect God to respond. So, God has to rattle and shake the foundation of such beliefs. However, the beauty is that He does not leave us there. After He has shaken our foundation, Read the rest of this entry
Shake Up
Hebrews 12:27 “By this he means that he will sift out everything without solid foundations so that only unshakable things will be left.” (LB)
Today, we will pick up our discussion from the final thought from yesterday’s devotional. And that is the fact that some doors can actually be traps. For instance, traditions can be a trap. Sometimes, people insist on doing things the way it has always been done so that the outcome can be as it has always been. Read the rest of this entry
Bridegroom
Matthew 16:18 “Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.”
Four things that cannot be shaken. Number one is the Throne of God. Number two is the Word of God. Number three is the Church of Jesus Christ. All the storms, gimmicks, and attacks of hell will not conquer the Church of Jesus Christ. The Church of Jesus is unmovable. It cannot be shaken. Read the rest of this entry
Go Now!
Matt.28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (AMP)
Imagine you open your room window one morning and everywhere outside is filled with ice. Then you see four people trying to make it up the icy street, crawling on all fours. They are all progressing steadily, and just as they are approaching the top of the street, one of them gets up too soon. Read the rest of this entry
Root vs. Shoot
Luke 19:13 “And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.” (KJV, emphasis added)
The root is arguably the most important part of the plant. The roots come first and as long as the root remains, the plant remains. But when the root is done, the plant is gone. Grow your roots. When you grow your roots, Read the rest of this entry
Faithful = Fruitful
Luke 16:10 “If you’re faithful in small-scale matters, you’ll be faithful with far bigger responsibilities. If you’re crooked in small responsibilities, you’ll be no different in bigger things” (Voice).
Fruitfulness is a big deal with God. If as a Christian, you do not bear fruit, Jesus says, there is a question mark somewhere. The challenge I have seen with Church folk is people want to be fruitful in their minds, that is, people have a mental ascent. They agree to fruitfulness, they like to be fruitful, but Read the rest of this entry
