Allowance Not Excuses

Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God” Rom. 15:7 [NIV, emphasis added].

If two people agree on everything, one person in the relationship is not necessary. For example, my wife fills some kegs with water. Years before, it would have been a major issue for me because I cannot understand  why. She would say it is a standby for when there is no water. My thoughts were, women just want some form of security, so I dismiss it. Then one day, the water supply was actually cut off and I would have gone around smelling the whole day if she had not kept that water. Then I finally understood. The truth is that Read the rest of this entry

Simply Different

“So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” Gen. 1:27 [NIV]

Yesterday, we established that some of the greatest frustrations we face in relationships are because we are different. We easily conclude, because the other person is different, that the other person’s actions are wrong. But difference is not error; difference is just difference. Many parents think that their teenage children are unwise. Many teenagers think their parents are old school. Many mothers in-law think their son’s wives are wasteful. Many wives think their husband’s mother is a witch. Many husbands think their Read the rest of this entry

Relational Clarity

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”  1Cor.13:13[NIV].

The quality of your life is directly proportional to the quality of your relationships. The quality of your life is not directly proportional to the quality of things that you own. The quality of your life is directly proportional to the quality of your relationships. If your relationships are sour, your life will be sour. Unfortunately, because we struggle in our relationships, we try to fill our lives with things. So we end up loving things and using people. It is a trap you should not fall into. God wants us to love people and use things.

Caution!!!

“Therefore let the one who thinks he stands firm [immune to temptation, being overconfident and self-righteous], take care that he does not fall [into sin and condemnation]” 1 Cor. 10:12 [AMP]

Establish protective boundaries. There are certain things that I just will not do, not because they are sin by themselves, but I have chosen not to do them. There are certain things you just should not do, certain things you should tag off limits. Why should you be asking your female colleague to pray for your sexual relationship with your wife? Then she will say, I will not only pray because faith without works is dead.

Be Practical

“Turn my eyes from worthless things, and give me life through Your Word” Ps.119:37

The first key to remaining pure in a sex-saturated world is a commitment to God’s standard. The second key is managing your mind.

#3. Minimize the opportunity for temptation. The truth is there is no one that is immune to sexual sin; given the right circumstances anyone can fall, anyone! Yes, including Pastors. I will not fall, in Jesus Name but I am not a fool to Read the rest of this entry

Eyes Right

I will refuse to look at anything vile and vulgar.”  Ps. 101:3 [emphasis added]

Immorality has a pattern, an identifiable process to how it happens. It starts with the thoughts, engages the emotions, and then translates to actions. Accepting sinful thoughts in the mind is the first step. God is clear in His Word about what we should do with sinful thoughts, Turn your back on lustful thoughts…” 2 Tim. 2:22 [Ph, emphasis added]. The next step seems subtle but it is very dangerous – emotional, non-physical involvement. A lot of people deceive Read the rest of this entry

Be In Charge

I will refuse to look at anything vile and vulgar” Ps.101:3 [emphasis added].

What is the point of eating bread that will turn into gravel in your mouth? Is it worth losing all your teeth? Who knows what is best for your life, you or God? This is the question you have to answer and settle in your heart. And your actions determine your answer to that question. Are you going to be more committed to doing what God says because He knows better? Or will you do what you think is best because it is your body? This is a question we all need to answer. Purity Is Possible!

“God wants you to be pure and to keep clear of all sexual sin…  For God has not called us to be dirty-minded and full of lust but to be holy and clean” 1 Thes.4:3,7 [LB, emphasis added]

God wants us to think clearly about sex. The question is how does one stay pure in a sex-saturated world? How does one stay pure in a world that is bombarded with sexual images, sexual nuances and with intense sexual pressure? I wondered about this myself in the past. So I am going to show you how and I trust that God will empower you to stay pure, in Jesus Name. How to stay pure in a sex-saturated world- four things:

Weeds II

The thorny ground represents those who hear and accept the message, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the cares and riches and pleasures of this life.  And so they never grow into maturity.”  Luke 8:14 [emphasis added].

Question –  how much effort is needed to grow a weed? None! Do you know why? It is because weeds are signs of neglect. Anything you neglect will grow weeds. The farmers will tell you that any area you neglect on the farm, weeds will grow there. If you neglect your walk with God, it will grow weeds. If you neglect your relationship with your spouse, it will grow weeds. If you neglect your relationship with your children, it will grow weeds. If you neglect your education, Read the rest of this entry

Weeds I

“Some seed fell among thorny weeds, but the weeds grew up with it and choked the good plants.”  Luke 8:7 [NCV, emphasis added]

To grow spiritually, the third thing is I Must Be Ruthless With Distraction. Your most important objective in life is to grow spiritually and to become all that God has called you to be . But you cannot be all that God wants you to be, if you do not grow spiritually. If you do not know how to hear God, if you do not talk with the Holy Spirit, you cannot be all that God has called you to be. But there are many things that steal our focus, waste our time, divert our energy, and Read the rest of this entry
