The Comforter II
‘But I will send you the Advocate—the Spirit of truth. He will come to you from the Father and will testify all about me’ John 15:26
The Holy Spirit is the spirit of Christ. No wonder the Bible says, ‘Christ in you the hope of glory’. The Holy Spirit is not different from Jesus Christ. Jesus says ‘I and the Father are one’. He says ‘I am going but I am leaving another Comforter, I am not going to leave you like orphans. I am going to come and stay with you’. So who is the Comforter? Jesus. Which means that everything Jesus was to the disciples when He walked with them side by side, the Holy Spirit is to us today. Read the rest of this entry
The Comforter I
‘And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you’ John 14:16
For the next few days we are going to be learning about the person of the Holy Spirit. Many times, people refer to the Holy Spirit as ‘something’ or refer to the Holy Spirit as ‘it’. The Holy Spirit is a real person. ‘But I will send you the Advocate—the Spirit of truth. He will come to you from the Father and will testify all about me’ John 15:26. Jesus referred to the Holy Spirit as ‘The Comforter’. It is amazing that Jesus is saying I am going and I am sending ‘the’ Comforter. Note Jesus did Read the rest of this entry
A Helping Hand
‘Then Elisha told the king of Israel to put his hand on the bow, and Elisha laid his own hands on the king’s hands’ 2 Kings 13:16.
One of the ways God works with us to break barriers in our lives is that He sends us helpers. One of the things Jesus said the Holy Spirit will be to us is our Helper. Without exception, everybody needs a helper. From today’s reading, God sent a helping hand to the King in the person of Elisha. When Elisha placed Read the rest of this entry
Instructions
‘Then He said, Throw out your net on the right-hand side of the boat, and you’ll get some! So they did, and they couldn’t haul in the net because there were so many fish in it’ John 21:6.
Usually, what God will give you concerning any situation you face is an instruction. If there is one thing that is peculiar to instructions, it is the fact that instructions from God need to be obeyed. Many times, instructions from God come to us through the Holy Spirit as suggestions. However, think of it this way, if God suggests that you do things in a certain way, don’t you think it is in your best interest to make that suggestion priority? We know that our God never utters a careless word. People often refer to this world we live in as warfare and not a funfair. It Read the rest of this entry
Housing The Holy Spirit
‘Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.’1Cor.6:19-20
It will be very beneficial to us Christians to study the instructions God gave to Moses when he was setting up the Tabernacle [the place of meeting] in Exodus [Ex.25-40]. You will see how much detail God put into the Tabernacle just because it was a meeting place for Him and His people. God put the same detail Read the rest of this entry
The Seal
‘…the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, He identified you as His ownby giving you the Holy Spirit, whom He promised long ago’ Eph.1:13
A seal is figure, symbol, word, letter, etc., used as attestation or evidence of authenticity. Another definition says a seal is the design or emblem itself, belonging exclusively to the user. For a person to carry the seal of God means that the person belongs exclusively to God because he bears God’s mark on his Read the rest of this entry
The Tradition Box III
‘Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect’ Rom.12:2
It has to be all about Jesus Christ in every Christian endeavor. This calls for a deliberate attempt to live our lives according to the Word of God and not according to the dictates of tradition. Today you find churches where tradition attempts to limit the move of the Spirit of God. The only thing that must not change in the way a Church does things is their adoration of the person of Jesus Read the rest of this entry
You Need To Know V
‘Truly, O God of Israel, our Savior, You work in mysterious ways’ Isa.45:15
‘This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed’ Hab.2:3. Today’s devotional is a continuation of yesterday’s discourse. You need to know that God will commit to ‘what’ but He will not always commit to ‘how’. Joseph knew the ‘what’ – he was going to be above his brothers. He knew this for a fact because God showed him ‘what’ was to come. Joseph Read the rest of this entry
You Need To Know III
‘And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability’ Acts 2:4
You need to know that God does the illogical. God does things that don’t make sense. As you begin to experience God unboxed, expect the illogical. The gift of tongues does not make any sense to the person speaking it. But you see, that is God for you. For a lot of people, what is limiting their realization of God and their next level is logic. We are waiting for everything to Read the rest of this entry
You Need To Know II
‘Suddenly, there was a sound from Heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting’ Acts 2:2
God does not only bless the people that we do not agree with or bless us in spite of those that do not agree with us, God does the unexpected. God shows up suddenly; He likes to surprise people. I have not met a woman that does not like to be surprised by her husband. God loves to show up when we least expect Him. For many of us, if we think back 10 or 20 years, we will never have Read the rest of this entry
