Love Endures
“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” 1Cor.13:13 [NIV, emphasis added].
Go to God with the disappointments you feel in your relationships. However, in cases of character flaws, God says make allowances. For some people, the allowance might require you standing up to fill a gap in your relationship for a season. And in some other cases, it may mean a temporary separation until the other person is able to take responsibility for those errors and correct them. However, it does not mean you should give up on the relationship altogether because you never know what God can do. Sometimes the Read the rest of this entry
Relational Clarity
“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” 1Cor.13:13[NIV].
The quality of your life is directly proportional to the quality of your relationships. The quality of your life is not directly proportional to the quality of things that you own. The quality of your life is directly proportional to the quality of your relationships. If your relationships are sour, your life will be sour. Unfortunately, because we struggle in our relationships, we try to fill our lives with things. So we end up loving things and using people. It is a trap you should not fall into. God wants us to love people and use things.
Absolute Love
“But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners” Rom.5:8.
Some people have become so entangled with competing that it has become full blown rivalry. Rivalry about different political camps for instance has led to siblings turning their back on each other. Politicians will come and go and after they have gone your brother still remains your brother. For some people it is the football club they support that has resulted in full-blown marital problems. The husband and wife go to club to watch a match together, but because the Read the rest of this entry
Address It
“The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.” Mark 12:31 [emphasis added].
#2. A High Level of Self-Esteem- to unlock concerted action, you must have a very high self-esteem and this is so important. I study great people, great men and women- that is one of my interests. And one huge thing I have seen is that great men and women like themselves and they respect themselves. It is amazing how comfortable they are in their own skin. And because they like and respect themselves, they are able to like and respect other people.
No Options
“As the Scriptures say, “A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.” So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband” Eph.5:31 & 33
The most secure places in God do not provide us with options. Marriage for instance, is one of most secured places. But God has not provided us with options in the marriage. Once you are married, you are married. No ‘plan B’. One man says, “what if my wife cannot do xyz, I need to have options”. There are no options because you are in one of the most secured places in God. And the most secured places in God do not provide us with options.
Pardoned
“Speak tenderly to Jerusalem. Tell her that her sad days are gone and her sins are pardoned. Yes, the Lord has punished her twice over for all her sins” Isaiah 40:2 [ emphasis added]
Sometimes, when we maneuver wrongly it gets us into trouble. Sometimes, it is the maneuvers our parents have done on our behalf that have puts us in trouble. If you are in that situation, I believe very strongly that this is God’s Word for you: “Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed, that her sin has been paid for, that she has received from the LORD’s hand double for all her sins” Isaiah 40:2 [NIV, emphasis added]. I say to you with all tenderness, your hard service has been paid for.
With You!
“That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit… The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” John 3:6 & 8 [emphasis added]
Years ago I had to represent the company I used to work for at the time, in South Africa. I went through all the necessary preparations with our partners because I was the one going to do the presentation. When I was about to go, one of them shook my hand and said, the forces be with you. I did not want to say amen because I was not sure which force he was referring to. But when I inquired about him, I found out that he is a Jew. Sometimes you think you are the only one that knows God. Every Jew knows Read the rest of this entry
Be You
“You are the light of the world…” Matt.5:14 [emphasis added]
God has created you an original. The reason people are afraid of being authentic is because they see themselves as inferior [lower quality]. They do not believe that they are in the image of God or that there is something in them that the world needs so inferiority complex creeps in. But the truth is God has made us all unique. Inferiority complex is the lack of self-worth and the feeling of not measuring up to standard. Admire great people, learn from great people but be yourself! Read the rest of this entry
Love is … V
“Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love” 1 Cor.13:13
Back in the day, we knew this newly married couple and for some strange reason the man had some serious financial problems. It was so serious that they were struggling to eat. The lady came from a very rich family and after a few months she packed up her things and left. She told the man that when he is ready to marry a wife, he should meet her in her father’s house. And Read the rest of this entry
Love is … IV
“…it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out” 1 Cor.13:5-6
Love does not keep record of wrong. Peter had concerns about this issue of forgiveness and not keeping record of wrong. Peter was saying to Jesus this thing you are saying is not practical. But since you are the one preaching it then tell me, how many times must I forgive my brother of offence in one day? Jesus said, seventy times seven times which equals 490 times Read the rest of this entry
