The Way Of Men!
“His delight is in the fear of the Lord, and He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, nor decide by the hearing of His ears” Isa.11:4 [NKJV]
Physical pleasure is one of the greatest problems that everyone, male and female, have to triumph over. Of all the three, physical pleasure ranks at the top, particularly in our time. The craving for physical pleasure is also known as the lust of the flesh. The third man said, ‘…I now have a wife, so I can’t come’ Luke 14:20. The Bible says Read the rest of this entry
Be Vigilant
“Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” Gen.3:1 [NIV]
Yesterday, we learnt extensively about these three things; lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh, and pride of life. And we said these are the same things the enemy uses in his antics. You might be wondering how this can work in today’s world. I will show you. In this time and age, the media is on our case. The media is constantly pumping all Read the rest of this entry
Three Things
“The one thing I want from God, the thing I seek most of all, is the privilege of meditating in his Temple, living in His presence every day of my life, delighting in His incomparable perfections and glory” Ps.27:4 [TLB]
We will continue our study of Luke 14:15-20. If you look at the whole story, you will see that it is not just about the wife or the oxen, Jesus is saying ‘you should crave Me, the Giver of the wife, the oxen, the field and much more’. God wants us to crave Him [the Giver] more than gift. It’s time for the family to go for the annual summer trip Read the rest of this entry
Excuses?
“And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever” 1John2:17.
“Another said, ‘I now have a wife, so I can’t come” Luke 14:20. This is the third thing in the anatomy of excuses. In other words, Jesus, can’t you see that my status has changed? You cannot expect me to be doing the things I was doing before. I now have a wife. People do strange things when it comes to wife or no wife, husband or Read the rest of this entry
What’s Your Excuse?
“But they all began making excuses. One said, ‘I have just bought a field and must inspect it. Please excuse me.’ Another said, ‘I have just bought five pairs of oxen, and I want to try them out. Please excuse me.’ Another said, ‘I now have a wife, so I can’t come.’ Luke 14:18-20
But they all began making excuses…” Did any of these people that were invited ignore Jesus’ call? Not at al! All of them acknowledged and responded but they took permission to be excused. Was that all right with Jesus? Sometimes we think that once we have taken permission then we are good. No, you are not. You may be good for the system on earth but does heaven recognize your excuses? The Church
“For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father, who is over all and in all and living through all” Eph.4:4-6.
The church is a body and this is how God intends for it to be. This is why everybody must be actively involved in what goes on in his or her local church. You need to get uncomfortable with watching other people do God’s work because it is not just for a certain group of people. In the past, it was assigned to the Levites but the Bible tells Read the rest of this entry
Watch Your Response
“Hearing this, a man sitting at the table with Jesus exclaimed, “What a blessing it will be to attend a banquet in the Kingdom of God!” Luke 14:15
Jesus is calling you! While growing up when someone comes to you and says your father is calling you, an emotion goes through your heart. A different emotion registers for each parent depending on your family. And for some the emotion crosses from the heart, runs down the spine and the knees begin to shake. And the Read the rest of this entry
Jesus Is Reliable
“It was by faith that even Sarah was able to have a child, though she was barren and was too old. She believed that God would keep his promise” Heb.11:11.
Jesus is reliable and you can rely on Him for anything and everything.
#3: You can rely on Jesus to make you Holy. “God will make this happen, for he who calls you is faithful” 1Thes.5:24. How do I know that I can be holy? He that called me is reliable. How do you know that you can live a holy life? He that has Read the rest of this entry
Indestructible Word
“For through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see… Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together” Col.1:16-17
Yesterday, we established the fact that the material a substance is made up of determines its strength and reliability. “But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man” John2:24-25. Jesus knew what they were made up of. Read the rest of this entry
Dangerous Logic
“The officer assisting the king said to the man of God, “That couldn’t happen even if the Lord opened the windows of heaven!” But Elisha replied, “You will see it happen with your own eyes, but you won’t be able to eat any of it!” 2 Kings 7:2
The third thing that makes us doubt the reliability of Jesus is our logic. Please read John 20:24-30. This is the story of Thomas. Thomas was not present when the resurrected Christ showed Himself to His disciples. When he returned, Jesus had left. “They told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he replied, “I won’t believe it unless I see the nail wounds in his hands, put my fingers into them, and place my hand into the wound in his side” John 20:25.
