Essentials I

1 Kings 8:57 “May the Lord our God be with us as he was with our ancestors; may he never leave us or abandon us.”

To fight for your destiny, you must show courage in five ways. The first way is, YOU MUST BELIEVE YOU CAN DO IT, EVEN IF YOU ARE SCARED! I must believe I can do it even if I am scared. Please read Numbers 13:27-29. Note that all these enemy lands have one thing in common ‘ites’ – the Amalekites, Amorites, Jebusites, Canaanites, because they are parasites. God wants you to know that you will drive them out so do not be afraid, instead have courage. The truth is, your destiny in God involves large cities with giant problems; you have to fight! You have to stand and fight, not back down and run. Again, you need to know that the reason why there are giants on that land is because you have not arrived there yet. There is no vacuum in nature or in the spiritual, so the land has to be occupied.

Note that the occupants of the land are not dwarfs but actually giants because the land is good. It is only the best of the best that can be there. Go to that land because God has given it to you and announce your arrival. Then get rid of every parasite. When we look at the testimony of Caleb in Num.13:30 “Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, “We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it” (NIV, with emphasis). We should because we can. You should because you most certainly can. Caleb shows us the two essential attitudes of courage and they are; we should because we can.

There are things that God wants to do; He is God Almighty so you can expect that those things will be enormous. But do not be afraid instead say to yourself, I should because I can. We are not denying the presence of the giants or that the task before us is huge but we are saying we should because we can. Caleb clearly states the source of his courage so that no one gets it mixed up. Num.14:“Do not rebel against the Lord, and don’t be afraid of the people of the land. They are only helpless prey to us! They have no protection, but the Lord is with us! Don’t be afraid of them!” [with emphasis]. One of the best prayers ever is, the Lord be with you. When dropping your children in school, one of the best things you can say to them is, the Lord be with you, the Lord go with you. This is why in God’s Favourite House our prayer is, let Your Presence go with us.

Prayer [Hymn]: We are able to go up and take the country and possess the land from Jordan to the sea; and, though giants tall be there our way to hinder, God will surely give the victory. Amen!

  1. We should because we can! Why? The Lord is with us! Booooom! The enemy has no protection! So profound! Nothing can stop us when God is with us!

  2. Yesterday and today dwells on confidence and courage; taking back what belongs to us because the Lord is with us….
I shall overcome my giants because they’re merely helpless prey in my presence…
I’ve followed many daily readings, however I seem to get a lot more out of this Fresh Fire…
At times it takes the whole day to get to read it but I surely do..
    It’s RICH, Resourceful and inspirational.
Thank you so much for sharing Ma. God bless.
