Q & A VII

Eph.1:17 (TPT) “I pray that the Father of glory, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, would impart to you the riches of the Spirit of wisdom and the Spirit of revelation to know him through your deepening intimacy with him.”

Question: Is there a difference between this tongues Paul refers to in 1 Cor.14 and the tongues that is the prayer language?

Answer: Yes, there is. Your prayer language is what is referred to as other tongues. These signs shall follow them that believe, in My Name they will speak in other tongues. So, it is available to them that believe. The gift Paul is talking about in 1 Cor.14 is the gift of diversity of tongues. What was happening in the Corinthian church was, perhaps the person taking announcements and he will be speaking in tongues, feeling very spiritual. Paul was saying that does not help anybody, it does not edify the church. If you have a Word, if you speak in tongues, let there be someone that interprets. So that as one person is speaking in tongues, another person is interpreting. If there is no interpreter then keep quiet and sit down, the Spirit of a prophet is subject to the prophet. When speaking to a public gathering, speak in the language everyone can understand. And if you choose to speak in tongues, let there be an interpreter. Imagine writing today’s devotional in tongues, in the language of the angels. How many people will really understand or benefit from it? Nobody!

Question: How do you grow in understanding revelations? Secondly, how come revelations sometimes play out as though it is about you when it is not, so much so that you feel everything.

Answer: Basically, it is God sharing the burden with you. That is how the Holy Spirit is feeling and He is sharing that burden with you. It is now your call to pray it through and intercede for the person. Sometimes, it is physical pain that the person is going through, and the Holy Spirit is sharing the burden with you. When it comes to growing in understanding revelations, there is a gift part of it that is just grace. There is a reason of use part of it that the more you exercise it, the more you are intimate with the Holy Spirit, and the clearer you become in that realm. Let me explain ‘reason of use’ in practical terms. Let’s say your friend shares a revelation he or she has with you. He or she admits that the revelation was too complex to understand. Then you take it upon yourself to seek God’s face. You embark on a seven-day dry fast, no food, no water until you crack the mystery. By the time you are done, you would be a different person.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, deepen my intimacy with You and fill me with the riches of the Spirit of Wisdom and the Spirit of Revelation, in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen!
