The Old, The New
Col.1:16-17 “for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth… Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together”
Jesus holds all creation together! Everything is held together by Him including the demons, the angels, and the forces. If Jesus says, “Stop!”, everything stops. In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, we command every affliction in your life to stop. Col.1:19-20 “For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.” The supremacy of Jesus is undisputable; it is in Him alone that we live, we move, and we have our being.
It is at His Name that every knee bow, doors open, healings happen, mountains fall flat and melt. It is at the Name of Jesus. Every mountain before you today will fall flat and melt in the Name of Jesus. Every door shut to your face will be open in the Name of Jesus because He is Lord. Jesus is Lord, absolutely, and totally. AW Tozer puts it this way, “Jesus is not one of many ways to approach God, nor is He the best of several ways; He is the only way.” Jesus is the only way. Jesus is the ONLY way. You have to acknowledge Jesus as Lord of all, you have to acknowledge His Lordship. If you have not acknowledged the Lordship of Jesus, I pray you will today, in the Name of Jesus.
The way God works is, He takes away ‘The Old’ so that He can establish ‘The New’. God is going to take away ‘The Old’ so that He can establish ‘The New’. Most times, when God takes away ‘The Old’, we struggle, we feel uncomfortable because we are used to ‘The Old’. Note that God is taking away ‘The Old’ so that He can establish ‘The New’ and ‘The New’ is usually better than ‘The Old’ with God. God wants you to know that He is taking away ‘The Old’. God says to tell you that you need a new experience, so He is taking away ‘The Old’ so that He can establish ‘The New’.
The problem usually is not where God is trying to take us or where we are trying to go. The problem is usually what we are trying to take with us. The problem is not God taking us to ‘The New’, the problem is we try to carry everything from ‘The Old’ along. Have you seen people move houses? They see the junk that they have not used for five years, and they insist on holding on to it instead of giving it away. Do yourself a favour, set yourself free, let ‘The Old’ go so that ‘The New’ can come. The longer you hold on to ‘The Old’, the more you are postponing ‘The New’. Let ‘The Old’ go; make up your mind to let ‘The Old’ go, no matter how precious.
Sometimes, ‘The Old’ has to be taken away from us forcefully because God knows that we would not let it go willingly. When He yanks it away, sometimes we are perplexed, but God wants you to know that your future is not in what you have lost or what has been taken away from you. Your future is in what God is bringing to you. God is saying to you this morning, “I am on your side and I am all that you need!” God is on your side and God is all that you need.
Prayer: Father, in the Name of Jesus, I willingly let go of ‘The Old’ and I take hold of ‘The New’ that You are establishing in my life. Lord, bring on ‘The New’, in Jesus Name. Amen!
