Yes And No
Psalm 100:5 “For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.” (KJV)
The ninth bait you should not bite is the Is God Really Good Bait. You may be looking at the challenge before you, and it may appear that all your friends or your mates have achieved A, or they have done B. I want you to look at the situation and from the depths of your soul sing, “For the Lord is good and His mercies endureth forever!” In spite of the situation, sing, “For the Lord is good and His mercies endureth forever!” Your path is unique, your journey is not like your neighbour’s or your sister’s own. It is unique, so embrace it, embrace God. God has a huge plan for you. And you have to realize that your suffering doesn’t change God’s goodness. To say that we do not experience suffering is not correct because this world is broken. Yet, our suffering doesn’t change God’s goodness. God is good! The truth is that no matter how you feel about your circumstance, God is still good, and He is still worthy to be praised.
Psalm 100:4-5 “…Give thanks to him and bless his name. For the Lord is always good. He is always loving and kind…” (emphasis added). Romans 8:32 “He who did not spare his own Son but handed him over for us all, how will he not also give us everything else along with him?” This is a strong case. If God did not spare His own Son but gave Himself for us, why will He withhold anything good from you? The first thing you have to resolve in your mind (heart) is that God is actually good. When you resolve that and it actually becomes reality, guess what? You can see clearly. You begin to see the things that are causing delays, and you begin to tackle them and enter into your breakthroughs. But your enemy is not God; God is not against you, God is for you!
The tenth bait you should not bite is the I Hurt The Person I Don’t Forgive Bait. Some people erroneously believe that if they don’t forgive someone, they are hurting the person. Or when they forgive the person, they are doing the person a favour. So, they hold on to unforgiveness because the person doesn’t deserve their forgiveness. That statement reeks of ignorance because it suggests that when you are holding someone in unforgiveness, you are hurting the person, but you are not. The only person you are hurting is yourself. As it has been said, “Bitterness is drinking poison and hoping somebody else will die.” You are the one who is bitter. You are drinking poison and hoping that you are hurting someone else. Or you think when you forgive, you are doing someone else a favour. Either way, it is a bait.
Prayer: Father, I am a beneficiary of Your goodness and forgiveness. Help me to extend the same to others, in the Name of Jesus. Amen!
