Worship I

“They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity” Acts 2:46

We see from this particular scripture that all the believers’ fellowshipped together. All the believers met together in one place each day to worship and praise God. The second thing that the early church was major on is Worship and worship is so powerful. When we come together to worship Jesus it is so very powerful. In fact since the recorded history of man every human race no matter how primitive or how advanced has worshipped something. The ancient Persians used to serve daily meals to their god [so that the god does not get hungry]. The Canaanites went further, they used to offer up their children to their god Molech. The Egyptians worshipped the Sun and the Nile. The first North Americans worshipped the forces of nature the sun, the wind, the rain, the earth, and Mother Nature. Africans used to worship many deities and in the Far East they worshipped their ancestors. As different as these cultures were in orientation, in advancement, and in technology they all demonstrated one fact and that is we were wired to worship.

We are wired to worship the true and Living God, however man has distorted this process through the ages to give his worship to other lesser gods [small letter ‘g’ gods]. And in this time and age the small letter ‘g’ gods have been replaced with the god of ‘self ’. So the people do not necessarily go to ‘shrines’ any more. They are now their own gods in their own shrines. In fact, the truth is that you can be so engrossed in yourself, that it becomes self-worship [self adoration]. Statistics say that the number of ‘Selfies’ [self photographs] has increased astronomically because people are much more conscious of themselves. People now spend hours in front of a mirror preparing themselves for a picture that ends up on social media. And devout the rest of the day to checking how much attention they attracted. Only to repeat the same process the next day. Do not read this wrongly, I have not said there is anything wrong with paying attention to one’s self, what I am saying is it can get to a point where it is all and only about you [self obsession] and you will become the small letter ‘g’ god. A point where one becomes the god he or she is worshipping.

God wired us to worship from the beginning and the worship is intended for Him alone. We should give all worship to God because He alone is worthy.

Prayer [song]: I will give you all my worship; I will give you all my praise. You also I love to worship, you alone are worthy of my praise. Amen!
