In God

Ruth 1:22 “So Naomi returned from Moab, accompanied by her daughter-in-law Ruth, the young Moabite woman. They arrived in Bethlehem in late spring, at the beginning of the barley harvest.”

Yesterday, we began to look at the story of Ruth and how her husband left Bethlehem (the house of provision) and settled in Moab, and everything went south. Read the rest of this entry

Bethlehem

John 7:42 ‘For the Scriptures clearly state that the Messiah will be born of the royal line of David, in Bethlehem, the village where King David was born.”

To fulfil your destiny, the second significant mountain (higher ground) that you need to take is the Higher Ground of Bethlehem. Interestingly, when you read the scriptures, you will never see Bethlehem being called a mountain. Read the rest of this entry

By Fire

Deuteronomy 9:3 “Therefore understand today that the Lord your God is He who goes over before you as a consuming fire. He will destroy them and bring them down before you; so you shall drive them out and destroy them quickly, as the Lord has said to you.” (NKJV)

1 Kings 18:20-21,24 So Ahab summoned all the people of Israel and the prophets to Mount Carmel. Then Elijah stood in front of them and said, “How much longer will you waver, hobbling between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him! But if Baal is God, then follow him!” But the people were completely silent… “Then call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the Lord. The god who answers by setting fire to the wood is the true God!” And all the people agreed.Read the rest of this entry

Carmel

Isaiah 29:6 “I, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, will act for you with thunder and earthquake and great noise, with whirlwind and storm and consuming fire.”

We will kick off today’s devotion with our final thought from yesterday. Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.” (KJV, emphasis added). God is saying, you are a city set on a hill, you are meant for higher grounds. Read the rest of this entry

Calvary

Matthew 5:14 “And you, beloved, are the light of the world. A city built on a hilltop cannot be hidden.” (The Voice)

It is interesting how we took a break from our study to focus on what God was saying to us at Easter. However, Easter, the crucifixion, and the resurrection of Jesus make Higher Ground possible for believers. Read the rest of this entry

Alive & Well!

Luke 24:5-6 “The women were terrified and bowed with their faces to the ground. Then the men asked, “Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive? He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead!” (emphasis added).

Matthew 16:18 “…I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.” Jesus shed His Blood for His Church so there is nothing anyone can do against the Church, absolutely nothing! If you bet, I encourage you to bet on the Church.

Secured!

John 20:16-17 “Mary!” Jesus said. She turned to him and cried out, “Rabboni!” (which is Hebrew for “Teacher”). “Don’t touch me,” he cautioned, “for I haven’t yet ascended to the Father. But go find my brothers and tell them that I ascend to my Father and your Father….” (NLT & LB)

Jesus had not yet gone to heaven to present His Blood on the altar for the sacrifices of the sin of humanity. So, Mary could not hug Him, or it will all be ruined. Read the rest of this entry

For Love’s Sake

Philippians 2:6-7 “Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form” (emphasis added).

It is amazing how following Jesus takes you on uncommon and sometimes unbelievable journeys. The Bible says, He was God, but He came down the ladder and became human. In fact, scripture refers to it as the position of a slave, from being God to being human. Read the rest of this entry

The Weight

Philippians 2:5-6 “In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage” (NIV)

We cannot even begin to imagine the weight of resurrection. We can experience it, but to fully come to terms with it is going to take a lifetime of knowing Jesus, and an eternity of being with Jesus. Read the rest of this entry

Glorified

Matthew 28:5-7 “…I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying. And now, go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead…”

Today, I will tell you a story I like to tell every Easter as far back as I can remember. The Son of God gave up the ghost, the sun looked away, and there was darkness everywhere. The enemy went to confirm that He was dead and there was rejoicing in the kingdom of darkness. Read the rest of this entry
