The Demonstration
John 13:35 “For when you demonstrate the same love I have for you by loving one another, everyone will know that you’re my true followers.” (TPT)
When I preach a sermon, my three main goals are To Be Practical, so that people hear the word and know what to do next. The second goal is To Be Personal, I try to be real, and I bare my heart. The third thing is I try To Be Positive. No one gets better by being bashed. People get better through encouragement and positivity. Read the rest of this entry
To Equip
Ephesians 4:12 “so that God’s people would be thoroughly equipped to minister and build up the body of the Anointed One.” (The Voice)
Whenever I get the privilege to teach God’s Word, I have three main goals. The first is To Be Practical so that people hear the Word and know what to do next. The second goal is To Be Personal.I do not just want to be practical; I want to be personal because we learn and grow by following models. Children learn to walk and talk by watching adults. To Teach
2 Peter 3:18 “…you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.” (emphasis added).
The first reason why we exist is, We Exist To Celebrate God’s Presence [Worship]. The second reason is, We Exist To Communicate God’s Message [Evangelism]. The third reason is, We Exist To Educate God’s People and it is called Discipleship. Discipleship is teaching believers to grow spiritually… Hebrews 6:1 “…let us move …forward to maturity…” (NIV). On Purpose
2 Corinthians 5:20 “So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”
Why church, why do we exist? Yesterday, we began to look at the first of four reasons which is, We Exist To Celebrate God’s Presence [Worship]. We exist to worship Him because the Father seeks people who worship Him in spirit and in truth. And when we say we exist to celebrate God’s Presence that is what it should be. His Praise
Ephesians 3:21 “Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.”
We are still on the question – ‘why church?’ Remember, the longer we stay with the question, the deeper our revelation. So, why church, why do we exist? Beginning today, we will be looking at four main reasons why we exist. The first is, we exist to celebrate God’s Presence [Worship]. When we gather, we celebrate the presence of our King, our God, and our Maker. Read the rest of this entry
The Assembly
1 Peter 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.” (KJV)
We will pick up today’s devotional from our final thought yesterday. Jesus said in Matthew 16:18 “…upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.” The word “church” here is the word “Ecclesia”, and not “church” as derived from the German word “Kirche”. “Ecclesia” is the gathering of God’s people. Ecclesia
Matthew 16:18 “…upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.”
With all that is going on in the world today, one of the questions in people’s hearts is why church? A friend was telling me about three men who said the only reason they used to go to physical church was they were always afraid bad things would happen to them if they did not go to church physically. The COVID-19 pandemic had demystified church for them, so they had removed church from their calendar. Read the rest of this entry
Sõzõ!
1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (NKJV)
One thing I do is, I take God’s Word very personally. I realized a long time ago that it is only God I have. If you realize that it is only God you have, half of your problem is solved. When I realized that it is only God I have, I decided that day to take God very seriously. The second half is, if it is going to be, it is up to me. Read the rest of this entry
The Mix
Hebrews 11:33-34 “Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions. Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight….” (KJV)
Why don’t we see the full spectrum of Sõzõ in people’s lives? The first reason is Ignorance, and the second reason is Brokenness; the generational wickedness or brokenness of the world is perpetrated in those lives. Sometimes, it has nothing to do with you. For instance, someone else driving recklessly can hit your brand-new car. It is not because you have a curse on you. It is simply someone else’s problem that you now have to deal with, Read the rest of this entry
In It
Galatians 2:20 “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” (KJV).
Yesterday, we began to look at the first of three reasons why people do not see and experience the full spectrum of Sõzõ. And the first reason is Ignorance. Ephesians 4:18 “They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts.” (NIV). Hardness of heart brings about spiritual blindness Read the rest of this entry
