The Link
“When you make a vow to God, do not delay to fulfill it. He has no pleasure in fools; fulfill your vow. It is better not to make a vow than to make one and not fulfill it” Ecc.5:4-5 [NIV]
I have heard arguments, several arguments relating to Hannah’s prayer. Some people say the Bible says her voice as not heard so Hannah did not verbalize her prayer. And I say read your Bible properly. Eli sat and watched Hannah from a distance and he did not hear her voice. I am not saying he did but his conclusion was that she was drunk. These people that say Hannah did not say a word Read the rest of this entry
Pray!
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” Matt.11:28 [NIV]
Regardless of where you are in your life you need to get up and pray. Like I said, I am the first to admit that I do not fully know how prayer works but I know it works. But then again I really do not need to understand how prayer works I just need to know that if I pray it will work! My grandmother would say, “If something is good, it needs prayers! If something is not good, it also Read the rest of this entry
Get Up!
“ Once after a sacrificial meal at Shiloh, Hannah got up and went to pray. Eli the priest was sitting at his customary place beside the entrance of the Tabernacle” 1 Sam.1:9
Hannah did not allow the lame consolation of Elkanah dampen her pursuit. Hannah did not allow the “deceitful” portion of choice to deceive her into abandoning her pursuit and make her to begin to eat. Some people, even though they are believing God for something, will opt out of corporate spiritual movements because they do not want to stress themselves. Come on! Can you not hold God’s hands Read the rest of this entry
Beyond Pain
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled” Matt.5:6 [NIV, emphasis added]
The third pain Hannah experienced was the pain of portion of choice. “And though he loved Hannah, he would give her only one choice portion because the Lord had given her no children” 1 Sam.1:5. The portion of choice is like double portion. Elkanah gave the others one portion but reserves the best portion for Hannah. And Read the rest of this entry
You Will Prevail!
“The Lord is with me, so I will not be afraid. No one on earth can do anything to harm me. The Lord is my helper. I will see my enemies defeated” Ps.118:6-7 [ERV]
Take responsibility for your life. What happens when we raise a generation that is not strong because they are not accustomed to pain? I have not proven it but I can tell you the greater you are as a person or as a leader is directly proportional to your capacity for pain. The greater you become as a leader is directly proportional for your Read the rest of this entry
Take Responsibility
“Train up your child in the way he should go: and when he old, he will not depart from it” Prov.22:6 [KJV, emphasis added]
Your children are smarter than you think. It is unwise to over protect them or shield them from pain. Think about your own life and growing up. Did you become who you are today because your parents shielded you from pain? Absolutely not, but by interacting with pain, you learnt to rise above it. Parents today are shielding their Read the rest of this entry
Prerequisite
“Year after year it was the same—Peninnah would taunt Hannah as they went to the Tabernacle. Each time, Hannah would be reduced to tears and would not even eat” 1Sam.1:7
Samuel was a child that came from holding God’s hand and asking of the Lord. In fact Samuel is a product of help from heaven. Hannah had to endure the pain of not having children for several years. For some of us, it is not the pain of not having physical children but we are going through a painful situation that has lingered for Read the rest of this entry
Crowned With Goodness
“Jesus asked, “Didn’t I heal ten men? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” Luke 17:17-18.
God will wrap this year up for you with goodness in Jesus Name. How should you respond to God’s goodness? Start by thanking God and thank Him profusely. After you have given thanks, let this newly established appreciation of God’s goodness draw you closer to God. Then you respond even further by increasing our goodness to Read the rest of this entry
Most Assuredly
“The Lord who rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine!” Saul finally consented. “All right, go ahead,” he said. “And may the Lord be with you!” 1 Sam.17:37
Our forth response to God’s goodness is we face the future with confidence. God is going to round up this year for you with His goodness. That should give you confidence to face the coming year with the utmost confidence. Some people will devote themselves to complaining and nursing fears about the year that is about to Read the rest of this entry
Imitate God
“Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?” Rom.2:4
Some people feel they need to be controlled and brought under submission. Such people do not respond to kindness, goodness, and to benevolence, they only respond to terror. Before I met my wife, I was dating another lady that I thought I was going to get married to but the relationship went south. And some Pastor’s wife approached me, she was of the impression that I had broken off the relationship. She said she Read the rest of this entry
