When you read 1 Samuel 16: 1-13, another thing that stands out is God selected David. God skipped Eliab, skipped Abinadab, skipped Shimea, skipped four others and selected David. For God to do that, God said concerning Eliab ‘I have already rejected him’. I am praying today that that will not be your testimony from God. What made David acceptable and made Eliab detestable? God’s Mind!
‘Now the Lord said to Samuel, “You have mourned long enough for Saul. I have rejected him as king of Israel, so fill your flask with olive oil and go to Bethlehem. Find a man named Jesse who lives there, for I have selected one of his sons to be my king.”1 Sam.16:1.
God can change His mind. Even though this is coming as a shock to some of us. However, it is one truth we need to know and pray never happens in our case. With Samson, it was an angel that told his parents this boy is going to be a Nazarene to the day of his death. God never said this Samson was going to grind corn for the philistines. Samson kept pushing the boundary; he kept sleeping with the prostitutes and nothing happened. He kept behaving like a spoilt brat. What A Life of Drama!

I am excited about what we will be studying over the next few weeks. This is the first time in eight years that I will be led to teach about David. Even though David is one of my favourite characters after Jesus. I am excited because I know that God is going to change our lives with His Word.

Gratitude
‘He fell to the ground at Jesus’ feet, thanking him for what he had done. This man was a Samaritan’ Luke 17:16
Gratitude begins from the heart. Gratitude is incomplete until it is expressed. The way to express gratitude is verbally. The Samaritan leper ran to Jesus – he shouted, he thanked God, and he praised God. Some of us are just too cool. It is good to be cool but you should mind where you are cool. You can be cool in certain areas and it will not be cool anymore. How can you be cool with the Person that delivered you from death? Yesterday, I was telling you about the accident the Holy Spirit’s prompting saved me from. Now that happened to be the very first car that I would have, that I bought with my money. So I was kind of grateful to the Holy Spirit but each time I see the dent the trailer left on my car, I will be sorrowful. And I will say, “God, I pay my tithe”. Then it occurred to me, I could have lost my life. The whole car could have been totally written off and here I am complaining about a dent. Spiritual Leprosy
‘Anyone who wants to be my disciple must follow me, because my servants must be where I am. And the Father will honor anyone who serves me’ John 12:26.
Please read Luke 17:11-18. As he entered a village there, ten lepers stood at a distance’ Luke 17:12.There is just so much in this passage of Scripture. Trust And Obey
“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine’ Isa.55:8
God will ask you sometimes to behave as though you already have what you are requesting of Him. It is foolishness but faith is obeying God even though I don’t understand it. Faith is giving even when I don’t have it. God says give this mount, and you say, “Lord, I don’t even have it”. Faith is giving what you don’t have. Faith is persisting when I don’t feel like it. Relationship II

I was chatting with a young man who had a bad experience with his earthly father. And he was telling me that he cannot relate with God as a Father. Every time he tries to relate with God as a father, he finds that he has resentments. All the issues he has with his earthly father begin to play out in his relationship with God. On the white board in my office I have a simple equation written – “Jesus plus nothing equals everything”. That statement has set me free. I can go to bed and sleep. We have things to do, bills to pay, I don’t know how this or that is going to happen. But I can go to bed and sleep.
