Be Practical
“Turn my eyes from worthless things, and give me life through Your Word” Ps.119:37
The first key to remaining pure in a sex-saturated world is a commitment to God’s standard. The second key is managing your mind.
#3. Minimize the opportunity for temptation. The truth is there is no one that is immune to sexual sin; given the right circumstances anyone can fall, anyone! Yes, including Pastors. I will not fall, in Jesus Name but I am not a fool to Read the rest of this entry
Eyes Right
I will refuse to look at anything vile and vulgar.” Ps. 101:3 [emphasis added]
Immorality has a pattern, an identifiable process to how it happens. It starts with the thoughts, engages the emotions, and then translates to actions. Accepting sinful thoughts in the mind is the first step. God is clear in His Word about what we should do with sinful thoughts, “Turn your back on lustful thoughts…” 2 Tim. 2:22 [Ph, emphasis added]. The next step seems subtle but it is very dangerous – emotional, non-physical involvement. A lot of people deceive Read the rest of this entry
Stay On Track
“Let everyone be sure to do his very best, for then he will have the personal satisfaction of work done well, and won’t need to compare himself with someone else” Gal. 6:4 [LB]
The first way to reduce the stress of competition is to Stop Comparing. Comparing is a foolish thing to do because you are unique. God designed you uniquely. In fact, God designed your genes uniquely. No two human beings have the same genes. You have designer genes. Why is it a bad thing to compare? It is because it causes envy and bitterness. It makes you miserable, do not do it. “Let everyone be sure to do his very best, for then he will have the personal satisfaction of work done well, and won’t need to compare himself with someone else” Gal.6:4[LB, emphasis added]. Value Treatment
“The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.” Mark 12:31 [emphasis added].
This is how I live my life and this is how I suggest you live your life. Treat everyone below you exactly how you would want them to treat you if you were below them. Who is below you today? Domestic staff? Treat your house help, your cook, your gateman the same way you want him or her to treat you if you were working for them. It will change your life. I know some people will struggle with this because they cannot imagine being the house help or gate man or cook. I know what I am asking you to do is a hard thing but it is the way to your freedom. Your driver, treat him how Read the rest of this entry
How To…
And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper” 1 Kings 19:12 [emphasis added]
Elijah wanted to hear God but God was not in the wind, or in the earthquake, or in the fire. God was in the gentle whisper; the still small voice. Many times we are busy looking for the dramatic but God is saying I am here. And because God is simple, we walk past Him without even realizing it. And because God is simple, we get an instruction from God but we do not even know it. When Jesus came, He came in a manger and He is God. He was so simple they missed Him. The Bible says, He came to His own and His own did not receive Him. Why didn’t they receive Him? Read the rest of this entry
Pure & Simple
And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper” 1 Kings 19:12 [emphasis added]
If you do not focus on simplicity, you get complexity by default. Simplifying things is a lot like digestion, it is a lot of work but that is where productivity begins. There is a rule called Occam’s Razor, Occam’s Razor simply states that “it is pointless to do with more what can be done with less”. It appears to be straight forward, right? It is pointless to do with more what you can do with less. Sometimes we just waste resources. Without casting aspersions at our ladies, why do you have to say in so many words what you can say with just a few? For example, my wife wants to tell me Read the rest of this entry
Keep It Simple
“A pretentious, showy life is an empty life; a plain and simple life is a full life” Prov.13:7 [MSG]
The mark of a great general is the ability to strip things down to their barest essential and then focus. As the head of the home, you are the general. You have to learn how to strip things down to their barest essential. Learn how to take what is before you and simplify it. Imagine your wife comes to you, overwhelmed and stressed out. You should be able to take her problem and simplify it. If your children run to you, you need to be able to take the problem and simplify it.
Stay Focused
“The light of the body is the eye: if therefore your eye be single, your whole body shall be full of light” Matt.6:22 [KJV, emphasis added]
Do not be in a hurry to judge people because you do not know where God has taken them from and you do not know where God is taking them. Someone walks up to me and reels out a list of judgments for another person that they insist I must execute. I simply smile at such people and never really say anything. And in my mind I am thinking, I know where this same judgmental person came from. So how can it be him or her that is pulling out the judgmental stick on someone else? But I Read the rest of this entry
Follow Through I
“I must work the works of Him that sent me, while it is day: the night comes, when no man can work” Jn.9:4
I have friends that do not know how to use up to ten percent of the expensive phones they have. They are not deriving value [exploiting] from the phone. So the question is, why buy such an expensive phone if all you want to do is make and receive calls, send messages and take pictures? That phone is loaded with functionality more powerful than ten mainframe computers of the eighties put together. We do not exploit Read the rest of this entry
Remain Flexible
“Your ears will hear sweet words behind you: “Go this way. There is your path; this is how you should go” whenever you must decide whether to turn to the right or the left” Isa.30:21 [VOICE]
God has and will continue to give you victory in this battle field of life. You are the general of your life and you need to take responsibility for it. That is why we will continue to learn and operate these principles of war. You being the general of your life does not contradict the Lordship of Jesus in any way. In fact, God is excited when we take our place. He says “…whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven” Matt.18:18. It starts on earth.
