Our Father
Isaiah 46:4 “I will be your God throughout your lifetime—until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.”
Your understanding of God as your Father will determine the cause of your life. Your relationship with your earthly father directly affects your relationship with God as your Father, even though it should not. And when the understanding of God as Father is skewed, people struggle. A scientific study was done on fifty of the most famous atheists in the world. The study revealed that the fifty most famous atheists all had only one thing in common. Read the rest of this entry
Be Present
Psalm 68:19 “Praise the Lord! Every day he helps us with the loads we must carry. He is the God who saves us” (ERV).
The role of a father is very crucial. It takes a father and a mother for a child to be nurtured perfectly and completely. However, over the next few days, we will focus on fathers because it is father’s month. The role of fathers in the life of children is so pivotal. Read the rest of this entry
In His Love
Romans 8:38-39 “None of this fazes us because Jesus loves us. I’m absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love…” (MSG)
The child of God cannot be shaken because the Throne of God cannot be shaken. The child of God was born of the Word of God, and He belongs to the Church of God. The child of God cannot be shaken. You can imprison him; he can go through challenges in life, but the child of God is secure. Read the rest of this entry
Rock Solid!
Matthew 16:18 “Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.”
Anything you build that is not built on Christ, the Word, is going to crumble. If it is your money, your finances, that you Read the rest of this entry
God’s Throne
Psalm 46:3-5 “though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.” (NIV)
The throne of God is established. Even if the heavens and the earth are shaking, guess what? God’s throne remains eternal, immutable, and immovable. God’s throne is forever and ever. Psalm 45:6 “Your throne, O God, endures forever and ever. You rule with a sceptre of justice.” Read the rest of this entry
Yield
Ezekiel 18:31-32 “Clean house. No more rebellions, please. Get a new heart! Get a new spirit! Why would you choose to die, Israel? I take no pleasure in anyone’s death. Decree of God, the Master. “Make a clean break! Live!” (MSG)
Remember the starting point for Jacob was Genesis 28:11-15 “When he reached a certain place, he stopped for the night because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones there, he put it under his head and lay down to sleep. He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, Read the rest of this entry
The Turnaround
Isaiah 62:2-4 “And you will be given a new name by the Lord’s own mouth. The Lord will hold you in his hand for all to see—a splendid crown in the hand of God. Never again will you be called “The Forsaken City” or “The Desolate Land.” Your new name will be “The City of God’s Delight”…”
What is your name? The original meaning of Jacob is deceiver, manipulator, supplanter, schemer, trickster, and swindler. If you are asked right now for your name, what would you say? If you were to be named by your greatest weakness, your greatest flaw what would be your name? Read the rest of this entry
Commit & Confess
Psalm 139:23-24 “Explore me, O God, and know the real me. Dig deeply and discover who I am. Put me to the test and watch how I handle the strain. Examine me to see if there is an evil bone in me, and guide me down Your path forever.” (Voice).
Jacob got to that place in the crisis phase when he chose to stop running. Jacob got to the point where he realized that his conflict was with God and not with Esau. And he responded by committing to wrestle with God until he can walk in the blessing. God is checking, Read the rest of this entry
The Objective
Isaiah 62:7 “Tirelessly pester God—give Him no rest—until He re-establishes Jerusalem and makes it worthy of praise throughout the whole world.” (Voice)
The first phase Jacob experienced before he could walk in the blessing was the Crisis Phase. As it is said, God whispers in our pleasures, but He shouts in our pain. Pain helps us hear God shouting. Sometimes, God uses conflict, trauma, or pain to get our attention. Read the rest of this entry
Not Man, But God
Proverbs 16:7 “When God approves of your life, when the Lord is pleased with the decisions you’ve made, even he activates grace to turn enemies into friends, your enemies will end up shaking your hand.” (MSG/TPT)
We will pick up today’s devotional with our final thought from yesterday. Which is, that you and I will discover that the biggest crisis, the biggest conflict, the biggest wrestling that you and I have in life is with God. You may be struggling and wrestling perhaps in your relationship with your children. Read the rest of this entry
