Dependable Grace

Isaiah 46:4 “I will be your God throughout your lifetime— until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.”

God will carry you through the difficult seasons of your life in the Name of Jesus. God’s grace will sustain you. So, when you are explaining your own footprints in the sand moments to your children, you will say, “That was when God carried your father or mother. Read the rest of this entry

Carrying Grace

Philippians 1:6 “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished….” (emphasis added).

There is an aspect of grace that is very crucial. It is like the bedrock everything sits on. And that is the fact that God has the power to sustain you by His grace. Read the rest of this entry

Grace Overlooks

John 5:6-7 “When Jesus saw him and knew he had been ill for a long time, he asked him, “Would you like to get well?” “I can’t, sir,” the sick man said, “for I have no one to put me into the pool when the water bubbles up. Someone else always gets there ahead of me.”

This man’s response to Jesus’ question flowed from what he could see. Yesterday, we learnt that all he could see was the process and the people. He could not see the mercy and the grace of God that was right in front of him. Read the rest of this entry

Old vs New

Luke 1:37 “For with God nothing will be impossible.” (NKJV)

John 5:4 “For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had.” (NKJV, emphasis added). Grace again! Read the rest of this entry

Stirring

Psalm 34:7 “The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.” (NIV).

The supernatural is with us. God has never left us. There are angels around us. There are angels even wherever you are right now, and they are carrying out God’s instructions. Psalm 103:20Praise the Lord, you angels, you mighty ones who carry out his plans, listening for each of his commands.” Read the rest of this entry

Distractions

Mark 4:18-19 “The seed that fell among the thorns represents others who hear God’s word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life, the lure of wealth, and the desire for other things, so no fruit is produced.” (emphasis added).

The first distraction that jumps at us from the anchor scripture is worry—the worries of this life. The antidote to worry is prayer. Philippians 4:6Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything….Read the rest of this entry

Root Deep

Ephesians 3:17 “And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts, living within you as you trust in him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvellous love.” (LB)

Our final thought from yesterday is that most of us want to flourish quickly, and painstakingly grow roots at the same time. But the challenge is that the two do not happen simultaneously, at least not at the same time and not at the beginning Read the rest of this entry

Shallowness

Mark 4:16-17 “Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.” (NIV)

The first growth trap that keeps people where they are in spite of all the power that is available to them is Familiarity. The second trap of growth is Shallowness. Read the rest of this entry

Now!

Hebrews 3:15 “But now is the time. Never forget the warning, “Today if you hear God’s voice speaking to you, do not harden your hearts against him…” (LB)

The third thing that causes and strengthens familiarity is Declaring Without Doing. The problem is we tend to blame the things we are familiar with as the hinderance to our personal growth. Read the rest of this entry

Get Busy

Romans 2:13 “Merely hearing God’s law is a waste of your time if you don’t do what he commands. Doing, not hearing, is what makes the difference with God.” (MSG)

I am sure you know people who always sit in the same seat in church. In fact, even ushers don’t want trouble, they just allow them. Why do we do that? We do that because we have become familiar. Read the rest of this entry
