Sustained Bloom I

“When he went into the Tabernacle of the Covenant the next day, he found that Aaron’s staff, representing the tribe of Levi, had sprouted, budded, blossomed, and produced ripe almonds!” Num.17:8

“When he went into the Tabernacle of the Covenant the next day, he found that Aaron’s staff, representing the tribe of Levi, had sprouted, budded, blossomed, and produced ripe almonds!” What is the significance of this? Just before this, there had been contention on the priesthood. By inference, there was contention on Aaron’s Read the rest of this entry

All In!

“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him” Ps.24:1.

In building altars and sacrifices, there should be nothing in your life that you cannot give to God. You shouldn’t have a sacred cow that you cannot sacrifice. You would be setting yourself up for a fall if you did because satan would know that that is your weakness and he will come after it. But if there is nothing in your life that you cannot offer up to God even when they are still in your control, then you Read the rest of this entry

Corner Stones

Then build an altar to the Lord your God here on this hilltop sanctuary, laying the stones carefully. Sacrifice the bull as a burnt offering on the altar, using as fuel the wood of the Asherah pole you cut down.” Judg.6:26 [emphasis added]

“…laying the stones carefully. Sacrifice the bull as a burnt offering on the altar, using as fuel the wood…”. In raising an altar there are three things we must pay attention to.

The Stone: In obedience, by faith, Jerub-baal [that is Gideon] gathered the stones for the altar as instructed by God. So what do the stones represent when it comes to building an altar? Does this mean you and I need to need to start gathering stones? How does this apply to present day altar building? “You also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.1Pet.2:5 [emphasis added]. The stones represent you and I, so the stone you need to build an altar for God is yourself. God says, you, come yourself. And when you and I come together, we become lively stones and this becomes an altar to the Most High God.

The Wood: The wood represents the fuel and the fuel is the Holy Spirit. The wood can come from anywhere but the fuel is the Holy Spirit.

The Sacrifice: The sacrifice represents your body, your time, and your substance. Mathematically speaking, Sacrifice = Body + Time + Substance. In fact, your sacrifice is your life and that is what must be consistently present for the fire to burn and to keep burning. “And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship himRom.12:1 [emphasis added]. We are to give God our bodies as a living and a holy sacrifice, the kind He will find acceptable, because of all He has done for us. This is truly the way to worship Him. Some people erroneously say that when you get born again, it is your spirit that gets born again. So you can do anything with your body but just worship God in your spirit. And they will support it with this scripture, God is a spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. While it is true that God is a spirit, it is not true that God does not care about your body. God wants your body as is clearly stated in scripture. And that is in the New Testament for those who want to differentiate New Testament from Old Testament. Give your body. If you have given God your body, it is difficult to allow the same body to be defiled. If your body belongs to God, no rascal should be able to touch it because your body belongs to God.

Prayer: Jesus, my body belongs to You and I present it to You today afresh as a living and holy sacrifice; may it always be pleasing to You, in Jesus Name.

All-In-All

“You shall walk after the Lord your God and fear Him, and keep His commandments and obey His voice; you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him” Deu.13:4

The reverential fear of God will make you enjoy the promises of God but it does not make you live a holy life. While the terrible fear of God will make you live a holy life. For those of us who are parents, we can relate to this based on experience. You say to your child, do not touch that cup. The child is going towards the cup and he is looking at you; he is assessing how serious you are. So he touches the Read the rest of this entry

First Things First!

“Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the Lord…” Ps. 24:3-5 [NKJV].

There are things that we do in our lives privately that rob us of God’s glory publicly. It is not when we stand in public that the problem comes. No, the problem came when we robbed God privately. The problem started when we did not regard the Most High at that place of the altar. It is noteworthy that Joab ran Read the rest of this entry

Caution!

“Then Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer and put fire in it, put incense on it, and offered profane fire before the Lord, which He had not commanded them. So fire went out from the Lord and devoured them …” Lev.10:1-2 [NKJV].

What killed Uzzah? You can read Uzzah’s story in 2 Samuel 6. The Ark of God was coming to Jerusalem, and the Ark began to shake. So Uzzah touched it and God killed him. What actually killed Uzzah? If you study this portion of scripture properly, you will discover that although the Ark should not have been carried in a Read the rest of this entry

Only One

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the [consistently] righteous man [upright and in right standing with God] runs into it and is safe, high [above evil] and strong” Prov.18:10 [AMP]

God cannot share the throne of your heart with another god. It has to be God and God alone. The Philistines took the Ark of Covenant of God to the shrine of dagon, their god. What do you think happened? By morning Dagon had bowed down, fallen flat on his face. Why? because there can only be one God. They obviously Read the rest of this entry

Heart Check

“You must not have any other god but me. You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind… You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods…” Ex.20:3-5.

After reading yesterday’s devotional, a lot of people felt uninvolved because they do not go to shrines, or consult any medium, or engage any false prophet. However, I have said to you repeatedly, your heart is the altar of God. For some of us, the altar you have set up is the altar of fashion. Some people have an altar for Read the rest of this entry

Die To Self I

“Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too” Phil.2:3-4.

The church is an amazing place and it comprises of all kinds of people. There are people who are willing to sacrifice their time, energy, and resourses to ensure that the affairs of the Lord run smoothly and there are people who are not willing to make such sacrifices. Selfish people don’t serve. Even among the service team, Read the rest of this entry

Action Time

“Then at last the Lord said to me, ‘You have been wandering around this hill country long enough; turn to the north’” Deut.2:2-3.

One of them, when he saw that he was healed, came back to Jesus, shouting, “Praise God!” Luke 17:15. Many times, we take these things for granted because Jesus will not demand gratitude from us. Did Jesus go after the other nine lepers? No! Did He withdraw their healing because they did not show gratitude? No! He is bigger than all that. But was He happy that one at least came back? Yes he was! When we have special services, I have no doubt that God heals a lot of people, a lot of people are Read the rest of this entry
