Wellspring

“My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work” John 4:34 [NIV]

You can carry the presence of God so intensely that evil around you will be exposed and I am praying that for you in Jesus Name. There was a married woman who came into my office straight from the bed of adultery. She came into my office and her body began to itch her so she ran out. She thought it was a coincidence, so she came back in and her body began to itch her again so she ran out again. And this happened the third time. I just saw her excusing herself and going back and forth. Read the rest of this entry

His Kingdom!

Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer itMatt.16:18

Why was Jesus so convinced about soul winning? I’ll give you two out of many reasons why. The first reason is that this is the way to build His Kingdom. Jesus has a Kingdom and He wants to build His Kingdom? He builds His Kingdom through you and I when we lead other people into that Kingdom. When we do this, He is excited. And in response to that He says ‘ask My Father anything and it will be done for you’. That is a good deal! Take note, it is His Kingdom. Years ago, I used to Read the rest of this entry

On Display III

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven’ Matt.5:16 [KJV]

You get to choose whether your light will shine or not. It is your decision. Jesus says let your light shine; Jesus did not say let your Pastor’s light shine. Did Jesus say your job is to go about ensuring that other people’s light shines? Did Jesus say let your life group leader’s light shine or let your neighbors light shine? No He said, you let your light shine. For instance, a woman quarrels with everyone in her community and even welcomes new neighbors with fights. Then this same woman Read the rest of this entry

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven’ Matt.5:16 [KJV]

Your life can be a magnet that draws people to God or one that pushes people away from God. Is your life repelling people from Jesus or is your life advertising Jesus to people? We need to confront ourselves with this question. You and I need to do an internal check of our lives and check our behavior. Your life is one of the most significant gospels that can be preached. While in paid employment, I once worked in an organization where my unit was responsible for over 80% of the revenue of Read the rest of this entry

On Display I

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven’ Matt.5:16 [KJV]

When it comes to people seeing the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, there are two main things you need to consider. The first thing is the supernatural and the spiritual side. If the Good News we preach is hidden behind a veil, it is hidden only from people who are perishing. Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.2Cor.4:3-4. So for every one of those three people you have on your list of people close to you but far from God, God wants you to know today that there is a spiritual dimension. Everyone that is not surrendered to Jesus is because there is a veil – there is a blind folding. This is why we have to consistently pray for these people that the veil will be taken out and the curtain will be torn. Read the rest of this entry

Number One Priority

When Simon Peter realized what had happened, he fell to his knees before Jesus and said, “Oh, Lord, please leave me—I’m too much of a sinner to be around you.”  For he was awestruck by the number of fish they had…’ Luke 5:8-9

Are you going to give your one and only life to fishing for fish or fishing for men? Are you going to invest this one life you have into fishing for small fish or fishing for big fish. The same way Jesus asked Peter, James, and John, He is asking us today. The same way He wanted Peter, James, and John to understand this, He wants us to understand that life is all about people. God wants you and I to help connect people to Him because with Jesus,  people priority is number one priority. So Jesus is saying what will it be today, are you going to be fishing for fish or are you going to be fishing for men? In Luke 5:1-11, what they had worked for all night was to catch fish so that they can feed their families and have a good life. But they caught nothing. Jesus showed up, they caught so many fish they couldn’t even handle the catch. Then Peter had a light bulb moment; he realized that this was miraculous – a touch of divinity. Then comes the question, is it going to be about the fish or is it going to be about men? ‘Jesus replied to Simon, “Don’t be afraid! From now on you’ll be fishing for people!’ The truth we ought to realize today as followers of Christ Jesus is that we do not have a choice; Jesus will make you a fisher of men. However you must confront yourself with this question – is it going to be the fish or men?

Fish translates to money. Is it going to be about selling the fish, making money, and expanding your company? Or is going to be about people’s destinies? Is it going to be about dollars or is it going to be about destinies? If you choose dollars you will discover a life of emptiness. If you choose people’s destiny, you will discover a life of joy and fulfillment. Am I telling you to forget about the dollars? Well, pretty much yes. Let me break it down. Your response could be like Peter – “fish no more, Jesus all the way”. He left everything, even the fish he caught he did not even bother selling. Peter’s thinking could have been, ‘Jesus, you are the one that made the fish come, let me hold unto you, more fish will come’. Smart guy; he held Jesus and left everything. Until you realize what Peter realized, it will be difficult for you to hold on to what really matters. I am praying for you today that you will not miss it.

Prayer: Father, I pray that I will not miss what is important. Help me make fishing for men priority, in Jesus Name.

Stirred Up

…Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish”. “Master,” Simon replied, “we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.” Luke 5:4-5

It is important for us, as believers, to know that God can stir us up just to preach the gospel and sometimes it can be to total strangers. Go with God’s leading. A friend of mine invited me for her party. They were all teenagers and you know how teenager’s parties can be. I grabbed the microphone, called for their attention and preached Jesus. When I was done I declared the party could continue but instead they all began to leave one after the other. She said she hated me for spoiling Read the rest of this entry

It’s Your Decision

For he was awestruck by the number of fish they had caught…  James and John, the sons of Zebedee, were also amazed. Jesus replied to Simon, “Don’t be afraid! From now on you’ll be fishing for people… they left everything and followed Jesus’ Luke 5:9-11.

My job today is very easy. I am putting forward a question to you, so here goes. Are you going to spend your one and only life fishing for the small fish or are you going to invest it in fishing for the big fish? It is always going to be about the big fish or the small fish. You choose! Jesus was saying to Peter, James, and John, and is saying to us today, you have to choose whether you are going to be catching the small fish or the human sized fish. It is either fish-fish or human-fish. Jesus is Read the rest of this entry

God’s Way

“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life” John 3:16

God broke the ice when He sent Jesus to die on the cross for you and me. And now that God has demonstrated how to break the ice, He is saying it is your turn and it is my turn. The ultimate purpose of your destiny and mine is to help people find God. Naaman had a house-help and she helped Naaman find God. It might seem small but in that single act, she fulfilled her destiny. You Read the rest of this entry

Before and After IV

‘So let us discern for ourselves what is right; let us learn together what is good’ Job 34:4

It is my earnest prayer that we will cause our community to say, ‘those people at God’s Favourite House are so passionate about Jesus. The way they tell the story of their God makes you want to join them. In fact, I am going to their church next Sunday’ [say amen]. Between things that used to be and the things that are now, there is usually a turning point. And that turning point is the cross of Read the rest of this entry
