Let God Lead You
‘Thus says the Lord: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, Whose heart departs from the Lord.’ Jer.17:5
The fifth thing that causes us grief, which is also unnecessary, is when we trust in man rather than in God. ‘Thus says the Lord: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man And makes flesh his strength, Whose heart departs from the Lord. For he shall be like a shrub in the desert, And shall not see when good comes, But shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, In a salt land which is not inhabited’ Jer.17:5-6. In other words, the person will be looking in one direction-unto man and good will be coming Read the rest of this entry
It Must Be Now
‘Thou shall arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea the set time, is come’ Ps.102:13 [KJV]
As believers we must know that with God there is a set time for everything. The Bible lets us understand that even before we were formed, God had a plan. ‘To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven’ Ecc.3:1 [KJV]. The children of Israel had a season of response; the set time for them had come to enter into God’s Promised Land. But they hesitated and told God they were unable to enter the land because of the giants and the season of response passed. Although they came back a Read the rest of this entry
Comfort Is Here!
‘So you have sorrow now, but I will see you again; then you will rejoice, and no one can rob you of that joy’ John 16:22
No one grieves without reason; everybody grieves for a reason. If you see anyone grieving without a reason then something is wrong. But beyond that, why exactly do people grieve? The first reason why people grieve is mainly because of a loss. The second reason why we grieve is for our sins and for the sins of other people. Isaiah was one prophet who went around declaring woe to everyone. But when God opened his eyes and he saw himself for the way he really was, that same Isaiah declared ‘woe is me for I Read the rest of this entry
Pay Attention
‘Sorrow is better than laughter, for sadness has a refining influence on us’ Ecc.7:3
When you weigh everything that is really bothering you in light of eternity what does it amount to? If you check a funeral suit, there are no pockets because you cannot take your wallet with you. Your mobile phone someone else is going to use it. And who ever insists on being buried dressed in gold or with precious stones so they can bribe the angels on the way because some people think like that. After they have put them in the ground, that same night the people that will exhume the body and collect the jewelry are Read the rest of this entry
Cleansing Effect
‘Better to spend your time at funerals than at parties. After all, everyone dies- so the living should take this to heart. Sorrow is better than laughter, for sadness has a refining influence on us’ Ecc.7:2-3
God is saying if you have two invitations, one to a funeral and the other to a wedding, then set the invitation to the funeral above that of the wedding. You will be instructed more if you go to the funeral. I struggled with this for a long time as a person because I just don’t like seeing people suffer. It crushes me and I am not able to bear it. Visiting the sick in the hospital is not my ministry but there are some people who are gifted to see people whose legs are suspended and they are fine. I cannot stand it at least for now. Do I Qualify?
‘You’re blessed when you feel you’ve lost what is most dear to you. Only then can you be embraced by the One most dear to you’ Mat.5:4 [MSG]
When Jesus says blessed are those who mourn, He is not referring to professional mourners. Professional mourners are people who are paid to fill an emotional gap at funerals. A crowd gathered outside the house of the little girl who was presumed dead in scripture. And when Jesus came and said that the girl was not dead but asleep, that same crowd of mourners began to laugh at Him. Were they really mourning? And at Jesus’ word they were put out and at His word the girl arose from her sleep. Jesus is not talking Read the rest of this entry
For What You Do
‘Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted’ Matt.5:4 [NIV].
You are blessed for what you do. The first thing that Jesus did with the beatitudes is to shatter the false understanding that a person can be saved without being changed. So the theory that people propound that once you are saved there is really no fruit that should be expected from you is false. They propose that Jesus paid it all so you can sleep with whoever you want to sleep with, abuse whoever you want to abuse, be as filthy as you like but just plead the blood of Jesus and you would be fine. Jesus debunks that lie Read the rest of this entry
His Word And His Voice
‘How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your word’ Ps.119:9.
With God, sitting on the fence translates to being lukewarm. Some of us are unable to commit because we are afraid to make mistakes. Yet your commitment shows God and heaven that you mean business. I could trace the dramatic change in my life and the power of God to milestones in my commitment to purity.
Not Without Commitment
‘I made a covenant with my eyes not to look with lust at a young woman’ Job.31:1
Job was so committed to purity that he ‘made a covenant with [his] eyes not to look with lust at a young woman’. Even though Jesus had not physically walked the earth at that time, Job knew that the issue of purity goes beyond actually sleeping with a woman. Job did not need anyone to tell him that just by looking lustfully at a woman he has committed adultery. When you walk with God, you know these things. Pornography is even far off but they did Read the rest of this entry
Deeper In-Love
‘This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!’ 2 Cor.5:17.
If purity does not come by new behavior but by new creation, then it follows that purity does not grow with more new behaviors. How do you grow in purity? It is simple; you grow in purity with more affection for God. So the more the love I have for Christ, the more I lose the taste for sin. So if you are struggling with sin, check your affection for Jesus. The more you fall in love with Jesus the easier it is for you to let go of sin. Check two people who are in love, Read the rest of this entry
