Prosperity Test II

“Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God” Luke 12:21

Caution! How you respond determines how heaven responds. How that man, Scripture describes him as the ‘rich fool’ responded determined how God responded. “But God said to him, ‘You fool! You will die this very night. Then who will get everything you worked for?’ Luke 12:20. When you get that windfall – it is a test. When you get that promotion – it is a test. God is testing you. And I am praying that you will pass the test in Jesus Name. As a Pastor, I am burdened and I am also excited. I am excited because I am seeing people passing the test. And I am burdened because I am seeing people stumbling at this test. Again I am praying that you will pass the test, in Jesus Name. I have heard over and over again Pastors preaching about wealth transfer. I am sure you’ve heard about it too. Back in the day when I hear about it, in my mind I am like why are these people saying wealth transfer. Why would God take something from someone that has worked hard for it and give it to you? You better go and do your own work. That’s usually my response. You know when that changed? God showed me Himself that He is actually going to do the wealth transfer. I said so this thing is true and He said it is true. Do you know the problem? He is looking for who to trust. And I said how can that be so hard? I said to God, look no further. Here we are in God’s Favourite House. We will receive it and we will not fail the test. He said are you sure? Can God trust you? It is a question you need to wrestle with and answer truthfully and prayerfully.

How to pass the prosperity test is simple, just reverse how to fail the test. If how to fail the test is thinking that every increase belongs to me; then how to pass the test is knowing that everything I have plus the increase belongs to God. Let God determine what to do with the increase that comes. ‘Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.  Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. By doing this they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life 1 Tim 6:17-19.

Prayer [hymn]: My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus’ Name. On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand… Amen!
