The Truth!

Isa.64:6We are all infected and impure with sin. When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags…”.

Are you worthy? This is a question that you must confront yourself with. Most times, we do not bother asking because we usually approach God with an attitude of unworthiness. And rightly so, because by ourselves we are unworthy; the best of our righteous acts is like a filthy rag before our Holy God. However it is because of this fact that Jesus came.

2 Cor.5:21 For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ”. Jesus became sin so that we can become the righteousness of God. Jesus did not just take away sin; He became sin so that we can take on His righteousness. In Christ, we take on His righteousness but if we do not appreciate the fact that all our righteousness is as a filthy rag before God [Isa.64:6], we will not appreciate the fact that somebody became sin for us [2 Cor.5:21]. If you think you are a good person then you would not see the need for a Savior, you would not have need for a Saviour.

Increasingly, the world is telling us that we are human so it is acceptable to make mistakes. The world does not want us to see sin as sin any more but to see sin as a mistake. So you increasingly would hear people say, “We are all humans, we make mistakes”. Hinting that since it is a mistake and you are capable of improving, there is really no need for the cleansing power of the Blood that delivers from sin. Jesus did not die for your mistakes. You and I were dead in sin. Jesus did not die to make us better people. Jesus died to bring us to life. Jesus did not die to correct your mistakes, – Jesus died to forgive your sins. Huge, huge, difference! It is important for us to realize this, so that we can approach God with the right heart.

Lu.15:19 [NIV]I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants”. Like the prodigal son, many times this is our position before God. Worthiness is not something that Christians embrace or talk about these days. But God wants us to be confident that we are worthy to stand before Him in Christ Jesus.  We must not lose sight of this privilege so that we do not become arrogant but rather approach God with gratitude.

Prayer [song]: Thank You O my Father, for giving us Your Son and giving Your Spirit till Your work on earth is done. Amen!
