Profitable Word II

‘There should be no poor among you, for the Lord your God will greatly bless you in the land He is giving you as a special possession’ Deut.15:4

Will every Christian be wealthy? You have to start by ascertaining what defines wealth then to move from there. From Deuteronomy 15:4, it is clear that God has made provision such that there won’t be any poor amongst His people. ‘You will receive this blessing if you are careful to obey all the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today. The Lord your God will bless you as he has promised. You will lend money to many nations but you will never need to borrow. You will rule many nations, but they will not rule over you. But if there are any poor… do not be hard-hearted or tightfisted toward them. Instead, be generous and lend them what ever they need… There will always be some in the land who are poor. That is why I am commanding you to share freely with the poor and with other Israelites in need’ Deut.15:6-8, & 11. God started out by saying there should be none poor but the condition is you have to obey His precepts. Then God moved on to point out that some people are very stubborn and will not obey His precept then such people will be poor. Then God says to the rich who have obeyed and have been blessed, take care of them. So which side are you going to be on? The choice is yours. Sadly those who do not have tend to hold tightly to the portion of Scripture that says the rich should help the poor because God says the poor will not seize from the land. My question to you today is, does that portion relating to the poor have your name on it? Why don’t you read the part that says that none will be poor and see yourself in there? Why do you see yourself in the company of the poor?

For the poor to overcome lack, two things must happen. Either the rich obey God or the poor obey God. Which will it be for you? Are you going to wait for some rich guy to obey God or are you going to obey God yourself and become that rich guy? You choose! Will every Christian be rich? The answer is no because some will refuse to obey God. God has put the choice before you, what will it be for you? Choose to obey.

Prayer: Father, I choose to carefully obey all the commands You give me henceforth. I ask for the grace to follow through and receive the blessings of obedience, in Jesus Name.
