Enough Gain?

1 Tim. 6:6-8 “Godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that”[with emphasis].

Key Question 2: How much is enough? Really, how much would you need to make for you to consider it enough money? How many cars are enough? How many cars can a man drive? How many houses can a man leave in? How many rooms can a man sleep in? Building a house with ten rooms is neither here nor there. It is your choice really. If it makes you happy, then build it. But how many rooms can you sleep in? If in one night you insist on sleeping in all ten rooms, what do you think will be the result? Read the rest of this entry

Relax!

Psa.116:7 (VOICE) “O my soul! Return and relax. Come to your true rest, for the Eternal has showered you with His favor.”

I can confidently tell you that God loves me. God does not love me because I preach a good sermon or because someone gives his or her life to Jesus. Yes, He is happy but that is not the reason why He loves me. I know this truth like I know my name –it is engraved into every fibre of my being. So, I do not have or feel any pressure! Prodigally Yours

Isa.43:4 (VOICE)Because you are special to Me and I love you, I gladly give up other peoples in exchange for you; They are trivial by comparison to your weighty significance.

A young man was really excited of the new Lexus twin-engine car he just purchased. The car is so fantastic that when one engine shuts down, the second engine just picks up. So, he took his father for a ride in the car just to show him how fantastic the car was. Read the rest of this entry

Because… II

1 John 3:1 (LB) “See how very much our Heavenly Father loves us, for He allows us to be called his children – think of it – and we really are!”

The Bible says in Eccl. 4:4 (GN) “I’ve learned why people work so hard to succeed; it’s because they envy the things their neighbours have” [with emphasis]. If you let the envy of the things that neighbours have become the fuel in the engine that drives your productivity, you will be, of all men, the most miserable. Read the rest of this entry

Because… I

Gal. 1:10 Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.

The first reason why people become workaholics is because of INSECURITY. Human beings have an intense need for approval, it is otherwise known as approval addiction. A lot of people are insecure, a lot of people grew up without affirmation from home and, in some cases, people had to work to earn affirmation. Read the rest of this entry

Prov.23:4 Do not wear yourself out to get rich; have the wisdom to show restraint” [with emphasis]

I understand that after reading yesterday’s devotional, some people are still wrestling with the concept of being a workaholic. Some others are in denial and some people just want to know where the line is so they would not cross it, or to ascertain whether they have already crossed it or not. Read the rest of this entry

Caution!!!

Prov.23:4 Do not wear yourself out to get rich; have the wisdom to show restraint” [with emphasis]

God honours hard work and not ‘work-a-holism’. God wants you to work hard but He does not want you to be a workaholic. God wants us to be passionate about our professions but God does not want us to be obsessed with our professions. Obsessing about your work is unhealthy. Read the rest of this entry

Move Up!

Matt.6:12 (AMPC) “And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven (left, remitted, and let go of the debts, and have given up resentment against) our debtors.”

When God is prompting you to forgive someone, just forgive the person. If you refuse to follow His leading, you are holding your own self down. Jesus, in teaching us how to pray, alluded to the fact that when we do not forgive, we are holding ourselves down. Read the rest of this entry

Tenderness

Matt.5:44 (KJV) “…Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who despitefully use you…” [with emphasis].

The sixth way to deal with difficult people is to Respond With Love. To respond with love, you must remember two things; inspite of people’s behaviour or what they have done, in spite of how irresponsible or how saucy they are, God loves them. Read the rest of this entry

Do It Quickly

Eph.4:26-27 (GN) “If you become angry, do not let your anger lead you into sin; and do not stay angry all day.  Don’t give the devil a chance.”

The fifth way to deal with difficult people is Resolve The Conflict Quickly. The question is, should a Christian ever get angry? Did Jesus ever get angry? Yes, Jesus did but that is not a license to be short fused. Inevitably, sometimes we get angry but God’s Word says, Eph.4:27 (Philips) “Never go to bed angry!” Read the rest of this entry
