Confess & Forsake!
Prov.28:13 “People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy” [with emphasis].
Settle This!
Mark 12:30 “And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength” [with emphasis]
Sex is sweet but sacred! It is a fulfillment that comes as a reward of the pursuit of a person. But if you put the weight of your deepest desires on another human being, you are going to crush that person completely. Luke 10:27 “…You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” The Bible shows us clearly that God is to be No.1 and then your neighbor is No.2. Your spouse is your first neighbor. If they insist on wearing the No.1 tag, my Read the rest of this entry
Compass
1 Cor.7:3 “The husband should fulfill his wife’s sexual needs, and the wife should fulfill her husband’s needs. 4The wife gives authority over her body to her husband, and the husband gives authority over his body to his wife. 5 Do not deprive each other of sexual relations…”
Some wives feel like this is the only Scripture that their husbands can quote verbatim. But the truth is that your body is not your own as our scripture reference today reveals. Check your own Bible and confirm. As a husband or a wife you cannot base intimacy on how you feel. The Bible frowns at it and calls such people defrauders. There is pleasurable intimacy and there is dutiful intimacy. Also in marriage, you cannot approach intimacy seeking your own fulfillment or feelings; you will not get anything that way. When the focus is Read the rest of this entry
Reward
Gen.29:25 “Morning came: There was Leah in the marriage bed!” [MSG, with emphasis]
We teach our people [intending and already married couples], that when in marriage, the package [everything you see] is your portion. We teach our people acceptance. You accept the totality of the other person. Just accept it because in the morning it will always be Leah. You have to accept your lot in life because that is how it is. Three times in the Book of Ecclesiastes [3:22, 5:18 & 19], the Bible admonishes us to accept our lot in life.
Stolen Bread
Prov.20:17 “Stolen bread tastes sweet, but it turns to gravel in the mouth” [with emphasis]
There are certain things that you would naturally be drawn to but are not good for you. There are certain kinds of food that you really enjoy but are actually not good for you. In fact, some can actually kill you. Sugar for instance, no matter how much of a sweet tooth you have, the fact is that sugar can kill you. So the fact that it tastes good to you does not mean that it is good for you. The fact that sex is enjoyable does not mean it is good for you outside of God. Some people will argue that why did God make it so good. Again I say, the Read the rest of this entry
“It”
Sng.2:7 “Promise me, O women of Jerusalem, by the gazelles and wild deer, not to awaken love until the time is right”
If you can control your appetite for food, you can control all other appetites including sex. But we must always accept that sex is what it is. Some people like it and some do not for two main reasons. Firstly, some people do not like sex because of their past experiences. If you grew up with badly prepared beans [water on one side, oil floating on the water and the beans at the bottom of the pot], you probably would not like beans. But the day you encounter well prepared beans, what do you think will happen? The second reason Read the rest of this entry
Ownership
Matt.6:24 “No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money” (mammon) [with emphasis].
Jeff had to work late again because the boss did not send in the weekly report on time and everyone got a copy by morning. So that night alone in the office, he put the copier to work. Strangely, a single sheet printed with a big black circle in the middle was the only thing that printed. While probing, Jeff discovered that it was something mysterious. When placed over any door, Jeff’s hand could go through the black circle as though the doors did not exist.
Open Doors
Deut. 28:12 “The Lord will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow”
Everything you are not grateful for will eventually exit your life. You are there waiting on God to do xyz for you to be happy. An anonymous quote reads, “It’s not happy people who are thankful. It’s thankful people who are happy”. Stop waiting for that promotion, the open doors, a child or marriage to happen before you show gratitude to God. God is saying be grateful then you will be happy. We often let “what could be” rob us of the joy of what will be or already is.
Give Thanks
Ezra 3: 11 With praise and thanks, they sang this song to the Lord: “He is so good! His faithful love for Israel endures forever!” Then all the people gave a great shout…” [emphasis added]
When a child wakes up from a nightmare, hearing the voice of the parent alone is comforting. Immediately the child hears the statement, “Its okay, Daddy/Mummy is here”, the child feels a sense of security and calms down. The child does not first measure the circumference of the parent’s biceps. Knowing that Mummy or Daddy is there is enough. Whether the parent can fight or not does not matter. The child feels secure in the parent’s arms. That child will sleep off on the parent’s shoulder regardless of what is out there. I Read the rest of this entry
Un-Afraid
Rom.8:31 “What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?”
There is a difference between fear and danger; you and I must realize this difference. You can be afraid when there is no danger and you can be in danger and not be afraid. Haven’t you seen a child standing on the ledge of a building un-afraid? Even though the child is in danger, the child is not afraid. A person can be afraid and not be in danger. So you need to differentiate between the two.
