God Confidence
‘David said to Saul, “Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine; your servant will go and fight him” 1 Sam.17:32 [NIV].
The conversation with Saul. The fourth conversation David had was with Saul. Saul sent for David, I am sure he was curious to find out who David was. And do you know the first thing David said when he got before Saul, David said Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine”. I just love David, don’t you? I mean this was the king of Israel; David was being introduced to the king, he didn’t fall on your face and Read the rest of this entry
Ignore and Speak
‘Now what have I done?” said David. “Can’t I even speak?” He then turned away to someone else and brought up the same matter, and the men answered him as before’ 1 Sam.17:29-30 [NIV].
Until David got up and left there was nothing like goliath, talk less of killing goliath – until David obeyed Jesse. The problem with a lot of us is that we are more educated that Jesse. Who is Jesse? After all when God came to anoint a king, He jumped even Jesse and anointed me. O big me! If David had not obeyed Jesse, David would have died an anointed shepherd boy. May you not die an anointed shepherd boy, in Read the rest of this entry
God’s Masterpiece
‘For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago’ Eph.2:10.
Finally don’t ever forget that God is making a masterpiece out of your life. The clay derives its value from the creativity of the Potter. Your value is not based on how good looking you are, or how wealthy you are, or how ugly you are. Your value is based on how creative and awesome your God is. Feeling that you are not valuable is casting aspersions at your creator. If you define yourself by what has happened Read the rest of this entry
Next Door
David asked the soldiers standing nearby, “What will a man get for killing this Philistine and ending his defiance of Israel? Who is this pagan Philistine anyway, that he is allowed to defy the armies if the living God?” 1Sam.17:26.
‘But when David’s oldest brother Eliab, heard David talking to the men, he was angry. “What are you doing around here anyway?” he demanded. “What about those few sheep you’re supposed to be taking care of? I know about your pride and deceit. You just want to see the battle!”’ 1Sam.17:28. I was fresh out of school and had just finished the National Youth Service Corps service year. And I wanted to do an I.T. certification MCSC. This Read the rest of this entry
Heart Check IV
‘He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams’ Ps. 23:2
A Patient heart. David was anointed king as a teenager. He did not become king, at least over the united kingdom of Israel, till he was thirty. So for at least fifteen years, David was waiting patiently and adventurously too. He was running from pillar to post. He was just waiting. A lot of us God gives you just a glimpse of what He wants to do and we just rush and make a mess of the whole thing. David had a patient heart. In fact when David confronted goliath Read the rest of this entry
Intimacy With God
‘O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water.’ Ps.63:1
Jesse was well to do; in fact he was a Sanhedrin [the highest political magistracy of the country]. Jesse was not a farmer. So the sheep and goats that David was sent out to care for were not his primary source of income. David was sent out to the wilderness to die [just like he sent Uriah to die in battle]. Perhaps not literally like that but they just wanted David out of the house. Yet David triumphed. You will triumph in the name of Jesus. David did not allow the Read the rest of this entry
Keep Trusting
‘Invite Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will show you which of his sons to anoint for me.” 1 Sam.16:4.
Knowledge comes line upon line, precept upon precept. God said to Samuel, ‘I will show you who to anoint. If I tell you the name, you will quickly go there and publish it. So go there first then I will show you’ [translated]. For many of us, God has said you are going to get married to this man and He has told you about the man. Years have passed and you are saying, “are these all the men?” I have good news for you today, David is coming! Believe me! I hope Read the rest of this entry
A Message For You III
‘The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time’ Ps.34:19.
Remember, God says develop a thick skin and a soft heart. You can’t respond to everything you that happens or people say, you will kill yourself. Some of us make it our duty to respond to everything; you will just ware yourself out. Why, because pain is the companion of dreamer. It is possible that some people cannot relate to this right now because you are a dreamer but you don’t have pain. That’s fine, take note and keep it for the future. Craig Groeschel said “the quickest way to forget what God thinks about Read the rest of this entry
Enduring Word
‘So the Lord blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses’ Job 42:12 [KJV].
No matter how you start you must learn to endure. This year has begun well for a lot of people, praise God for that. But the fact that you have begun well is not a determinant of how the ending will be. But we know that Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the ending. So if He has begun well with you, you can trust that things will go well with you and He will end even better with you in the Name of Jesus. You must learn to endure – persevere. You must be consistently diligent. And one way to Read the rest of this entry
A Message For You I
‘‘Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit’ Ecc.7:8 [KJV].
While preparing this and waiting on God, believe it or not, God told me to tell you some things. And over the next few days, I will be relaying the Holy Spirit’s message to you in this season. The first thing I believe the Holy Spirit said I should tell you is no matter how your day started it is not a determinant of how the day will end. God is saying how your day started does not determine how it will end. Some of us are overly concerned and agitated because our day didn’t start right. That day could mean Read the rest of this entry
