The Power III

So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves’ Gal.5:16.

The truth is that you cannot live a holy life in your strength alone. God is very prudent with resources. If He has given you His Spirit then it is because you need Him to survive. ‘…let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves’. Only the Holy Spirit can give you and I the power to live holy lives. People have said to me that they do not think God is interested in them because they have this incessant desire to do bad things. Can I tell you a secret? Read the rest of this entry

The Power II

‘After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they preached the word of God with boldness’ Acts 4:31.

The Holy Spirit gives us the power to share Christ boldly. Before Peter received the Holy Spirit he was really timid and when the chips were down he denied Jesus. When things got heated the disciples ran away. But when they received the Holy Spirit, Peter could confront danger without any fear. ‘And my message and my preaching were very plain. Rather than using clever and persuasive speeches, I relied only on the power of the Holy Spirit. I did this so you would trust not Read the rest of this entry

The Power I

For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children Rom.8:16.

We know that the promised Holy Spirit is with us. But what is He supposed to do really? ‘But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earthActs 1:8. What this means is no Holy Spirit no power. To operate as a Christian you need power. The Holy Spirit gives us that power. You can have a form of godliness but without the presence of the Holy Spirit there will be no Read the rest of this entry

Another Helper

‘And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth…’ John 14:16-17

Jesus says ‘I will give you another helper’. The word another in this statement is not the word heteros, which means another of a different quality. It is the word allos meaning another of equal quality – the same. Then shortly after that Jesus says ‘I will not leave you comfortless, I will come to you’. So the Holy Spirit is Jesus. He is the Spirit of Christ. So the Holy Spirit literarily took the place of Christ here on earth. The same way Jesus walked with the disciples is the Read the rest of this entry

In Need and Indeed

‘I will climb up to my watchtower and stand at my guard post. There I will wait to see what the Lord says and how he will answer my complaint.’ Hab.2:1.

When you have a sound relationship with the Holy Spirit even though you may appear helpless, you know that you have help. You know He is your Helper even when people are gathering against you in places you least expect. You know that He is your Advocate; He will speak on your behalf, will fight for you, and defend your case. You know He is your Counselor.

A Relationship

‘Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world’ James 4:8.

If you are married and you never spend time with your spouse, can you have a relationship with him/her? Of course not! You can sleep on the same bed and yet be total strangers. This is also true about our relationship with the Holy Spirit. Don’t just be content with having Him around; you have to talk to the Holy Spirit. You have to find time to be with the Holy Spirit. You have to create time to live in Him, move in Him, and exist in Him. Some people see the Holy Read the rest of this entry

The Holy Spirit

‘But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you’ John 14:26.

There is more to life than meets the eye. All you see is not all there is. Even the people that live all around you are not the people you are physically seeing. The people really are spirits in those bodies. And you are a spirit yourself. There are battlefields in the supernatural. There is a spiritual battlefield and the battlefield of the mind. We have to know how to navigate spiritually. In this supernatural there is God, the Almighty, the Father of all spirits representing the positive Read the rest of this entry

To Direct and Serve

‘Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him’ Matt.4:11 [NKJV].

Angels can give direction. ‘As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. Joseph son of David, the angel said, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit Matt.1:20. Only an angel can say this. When we read the Bible, most times we just read the story. We do not really think carefully about the gravity of the story. Imagine you are a young man and there is a lady that you really love and you want to marry. But because you are a child of God Read the rest of this entry

Show Hospitality

‘Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!’ Heb.13:2

Our focus over the next few days is going to be on what angels do and how they operate. The first thing you must know is that angels can appear to you [Luke 22:43]. ‘While Zechariah was in the sanctuary, an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing to the right of the incense altarLuke 1:11. When you see an angel that is not disguised you will know you have seen an angel. They are not babies with wings and cute feathers. Those are not angels, the Bible describes angels as mighty [Ps.103:20]. If you see any of those Read the rest of this entry

Who Are They?

‘For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways’ Ps.91:11

Who are angels in terms of reality? Angels are worshippers. ‘And when he brought his supreme Son into the world, God said, Let all of God’s angels worship him’ Heb.1:6. Jesus is the only person that has lived on earth that angels of God were instructed to worship. So Jesus must be God and He must be supreme. [Read Rev.5:11-12]. Secondly angels are warriors. ‘That night, the angel of the Lord went out to the Assyrian camp and killed 185,000 Assyrian soldiers…’ 2Kings 19:35. One angel killed 185,000 men. How Read the rest of this entry
