God’s Design
Matthew 26:39 “Going a little ahead, he fell on his face, praying, “My Father, if there is any way, get me out of this. But please, not what I want. You, what do you want?” (MSG)
I know there are people who desire to get married reading this today. In fact, about a third of people in church are unmarried adults – either never married or used to be married. Read the rest of this entry
Why?
Genesis 2:18 “Then YAHWEH-God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. Therefore, I will fashion a suitable partner to be his help and strength.” (TPT)
Over the next few days, we will be looking at Why Marry – why get married, why stay married, why remarry? One of the primary goals for us at God’s Favourite House Read the rest of this entry
In Marriage
Ruth 1:11&14 “But Naomi replied, “Why should you go on with me? Can I still give birth to other sons who could grow up to be your husbands… And again they wept together, and Orpah kissed her mother-in-law good-bye. But Ruth clung tightly to Naomi.”
Orpah had been a kisser all along. Naomi just needed to show Orpah that she did not have anything for her. Naomi just needed to show Orpah that she would have a better life if she returned to her family. That is all kissers need to see, Read the rest of this entry
Faithful God!
1 Corinthians 10:13 “You are tempted in the same way that everyone else is tempted. But God can be trusted not to let you be tempted too much, and he will show you how to escape from your temptations.” (CEV, emphasis added).
You cannot control what gets your attention, but you can control what keeps it. What gets your attention, most times, is outside your control. But what keeps your attention is within your control. Read the rest of this entry
Fill vs. Feel
Acts 2:4 “And they were all filled (diffused throughout their souls) with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other (different, foreign) languages (tongues), as the Spirit kept giving them clear and loud expression [in each tongue in appropriate words].” (AMPC)
Our final thought from yesterday’s devotional was that marriage is not the solution to loneliness. The Holy Spirit is the only answer to loneliness. Marriage does not end loneliness. Again, this is always a shock to single people. Read the rest of this entry
The Answer
Matthew 28:20 “…I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually—regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age.” (AMP, emphasis added).
Not only is this empowering for us not to commit evil, but it is also empowering for us to always be comforted, for us to always have company. If you have the presence of the Holy Spirit, you are carrying the Maker of the heavens and the earth. Read the rest of this entry
The Neighbours
2 Kings 4:3 “And Elisha said, “Borrow as many empty jars as you can from your friends and neighbours.” (emphasis added).
The second type of relationship you need, to be limitless and to truly become all that God has created you to be, is Constituents. In 2 Kings 4, it is pretty clear that the constituents were the neighbours. Elisha told the woman to go to her neighbours, her constituents.
Your Lifting
Psalm 18:16-17 “You reached down from heaven, and you lifted me from deep in the ocean. You rescued me from enemies, who were hateful and too powerful for me.” (CEV).
God has said this is your season of lifting and to lift is to raise, to elevate, to move not just from one level to another, but from a lower level to a higher level. So, God will lift you mentally in the Name of Jesus. For some people, the challenge is that the level of their mental reasoning is just too low. Read the rest of this entry
Check Up
Philip.4:6 “Don’t be anxious about things; instead, pray. Pray about everything. He longs to hear your requests, so talk to God about your needs and be thankful for what has come.” (Voice)
As with many things in life, when we get the fundamentals right, complex things become effortless. Take spiritual growth, for instance, some people think that spiritual growth is a complex issue, but it really is not, when you focus on the fundamentals. Read the rest of this entry
The Six
Philip.4:12-13 “I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.”
Yesterday, we established that a lot of people are running their lives, businesses, ministries by their hands instead of placing it in God’s hands. It is when you give it to God that God breathes on it and it multiplies. Read the rest of this entry
